Operations Challenge 2: Impossible?

(Highwang) #1

Anyone else thing Operations lvl 2 is impossible to beat?

6 vs 4, you’re the 4
Your AI does NOTHING to help
Enemy AI only ever camps the objective
Enemy AI only focuses on you
Enemy AI respawns instantly, while your AI chooses to wait for a medic

These things make the Operative part of the fight impossible since if you plant the hack box you suddenly become the focus of every enemy, and even if you manage to escape the engineer magically comes out to de-hack it as you hack. It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t so horribly imbalanced in the enemy’s favor.

Hearing alot of bad things about the challanges now, hopefully a patch will?balance it out abit, but still keep it as a challange as it was ment to be.

And hopefully the AI gets tweaked abit also.

I completed it earlier. The hack objective is really the hardest part. You just have to make sure you’ve killed the other team’s engineer just before you go to hack it. If you manage to kill enough of their team for your retarded team to gain momentum and actually move forward, you can sneak in and plant the box and get to cover without getting instantly killed.

Then you gotta make sure you sprint to the next objective and get the case to the terminal before their whole team just sits on it and you have very little cover to move in and kill them.

With how hard that one was, though, I won’t even attempt to complete the third star challenge.

(RumRunner) #4

it isn’t impossible to beat. i’ve beaten it myself… it isn’t easy to beat by any stretch of the imagination. but it is possible. personally i think it would be better if the challenges just operated on the same re-spawn waves that the normal game does… but that is just me, insta-respawns tend to ruin objective type play…

(tengu_soldier) #5

Well I beat every challenge on every difficulty. Although it was annoying it only took like 30 min to do all the obj challenges.

Btw I found the 3 star easier then the 2 star

Actually every other challenge is a decent test of player aptitude in order to play the game. Operations 2 is just unfair. It’s entirely dependent on luck and even then it’s hideously imba toward the enemy since they outnumber and outsmart your AI as well.

Honestly, if it was toned down to 4v4 I’d be entirely content.

(Pyrostasis) #8

Yeah the first challenge is absolutely insane. Took me a few hours to get lucky and beat it. The AI simply doesnt miss and your team mates are beyond useless.

Here’s a clip of my brother clearing it on 3 star

He got rather lucky on the repair.

(wolf blitzer) #9

stuck on the Be More Objective 2-star challenge… I can make it on several attempts to the hacking objective, but I get overrunned by A.I. too quickly before I can attempt to hack it.

(Linsolv) #10

This is definitely true with Parkour This. The time limit is low, so I was within like 10-20 seconds of losing, but on the other hand most of the actual jumps were much easier.

(spire8989) #11

I beat every operations challenge on the first try without any problem, same with everything else except for the escort ones.

(wolf blitzer) #12

I’m very proud of you… Tips for beating the two-star Objective challenge?

(Locki) #13

Without giving too much away, what you’re getting good at when you’re trying to complete the hack on two-star, is appraising and dealing with whoever is the greatest threat to hacking (enemy Engineer’s can use freezing spray to disarm it).

(beute) #14

dont respawn instantly…
it’s tempting as there are no waves and it’s instant all the time.

but all the running climbing costs just time, if there is a medic nearby, wait.

clear the enemies before you try the objective,
the fist one(bomb planting) can be done instantly by a medium/light body type as you’re have enough time to plant it before the enemy AI arrives.

just through a grenade in their way and they automatically stop or even run backwards as they are progammed to avoid grenades at all cost…

for the operative part: it’s pure luck.
you’ve to depend on your team A.I. to hold the engineer off, you just run away and hid in a dark corner(I always run to the command post)

the next one is rather easy, but never make the mistake to camp near the package you have to carry, the enemy AI will follow you and if they kill you before you get out of the room, the door will shut again and the AI will be trapped there, making it impossible for you to jump in there without risking to die instantly off of a shotgun blast…

Average body type is the best choice imho, you need it the parkour for the engineer and ctf objective.
a heavy would take too long, especially if you die several times.
the light bodytype gives you no advantage as you cant wall jump anyways and beeing faster doesnt help against enemy AI with implemented aimbots…

I did them all solo, and the second one took me 5 or 6 attemps or so.
I played on PC I cant imagine it beeing possible on a console if you play solo… same for the third mission and the third mission of tower defense.

(Coin Op) #15

It’s not that it’s insanely hard it’s that the stupid AI teammates standing around and doing nothing makes it near impossible.

I’m sure when you get another human player in the mix the challenge will be too easy.

(Hyrage) #16

The thing is…

As you increase the number of players it keeps getting harder. You better do the challenges alone.

(CoFran) #17

Switching body types for the different challenges also helps a lot…

(wolf blitzer) #18

Good tip… maybe a heavy covert ops class for the last stage would be helpful (can take more damage)

(MatthiasK75) #19

i beat it without really knowing wtf i was doing so i guess my victory was a fluke

(veganzombiez) #20

This is what I did on Normal. YMMV.

Level: 6
Difficulty: Normal
Body Type: Heavy
Gun: Chinzor MG (No attachments)
Abilities: Battle Hardened (I’m saving up)

My Method

  1. Shoot the **** out of the first wave of bots (usually 4 in open with 2 in cover).

  2. Do the first 3 objectives (plant bomb/repair generator/hack PDA) while most of the enemy bots are incapped or respawning.

  3. For CTF, just run up the first flight of stairs toward the item (I’ve only encountered 2 enemies up here; everyone else is on the ground floor) and then drop down into the pit and grab it.

  4. To drop it off, run up the stairs to the third floor. Again, I’ve only encountered 2 enemies up here.

Took me about 5 minutes.
