Why would anyone want to craft iron over higher rarity cards? No seriously, i’s not a rhetorical question.
One thing that concerns me over crafting...
I can’t see any reason at all unless you like that skin… Which is weird enough.
Yeah, why? like I want to trade up my cards from iron to bronze and lose fragments and credits on the way.
i think it is mainly the collectors who will make Iron cards. Those players want to collect all the cards. From my observations the new system allows them an easier time of doing this. They are also the players who will never recycle their irons either unless they are duplicates.
Most people don’t, that is why there is a handful of people who are complaining about the lack of progression now with this new system. You don’t go up through the ranks, you just save up your credits/fragments and go straight for a Cobalt.
You don’t. Simple as that. The only logical reason to craft an Iron is to avoid a perk in the third slot. And pretty much only Double Time is currently a reasonable choice to avoid (which means like 2 loadouts total).
They really should be lowering the credit cost of crafting Iron to 100. Because at that point it would be low enough to craft them as substitutes for Bronze cards you don’t have. And lowering that crafting cost has zero impact on the rest of the economy, which is great.
Kind of what I wrote in my analysis post.
I am surprised SD did not put an option in to craft Leads. Which obviously has to require more shards than you get out of one Lead recycle.
Now I don’t wanna suggest things from TF2, but I do feel crafting blueprints, as someone suggested here before, would’ve been a lot better.
Well I wanted to play skyhammer with the m4 and since I dont have any loadout with m4 I crafted an iron. Played a game, got rekt, recycled the card.
Kind of redundant now that there’s an option to cancel reloading.
And I actually like double time…

Not redundant at all, but a topic for a different thread. There are some people (including myself) who hate Double Time, and don’t consider that to be a solution.
My concern is that the current crafting system is pretty shit. Especially compared to the old one.
I hate how I need to play with what cards I currently have rather than being able to trade up to a Silver or Gold and keeping it for a while until I have enough for Cobalt. That was a big bonus to the old system. There’s a lot more wrong with it as well.
It would have been nice if we would have been told that we should trade up all of our cards before the new system, but I figured the new system would have been tweaked soon after its release.
Kandyrew hates the new system too - That I wasn’t aware of. He basically says in the video (at 6.35ish) that it’s killed his motivation to play the game haha. Such a shame because he was one of the top people for Dirty Bomb content on Youtube I think?
I can’t believe how many people I personally know that stopped playing Dirty Bomb after the update. I know skins are cool but to me it’s hardly a reason to stop playing.
It’s killed the game’s youtube base, because content creators aren’t playing it any more. And the ones who do are giving a much more negative vibe.
I may create a thread about this in a few weeks, around the summer squash release, not so much to complain about it, but to hopefully get a discussion going that will hopefully help the community to think about potential solutions.
I don’t see what solutions we can come up with though. They aren’t going to reverse the system and I just can’t see how they can add progression into the new system. On their last stream they said something like they had a few ideas on how to add it in but as long as you can do a single hit for a shiny cobalt, most people are just gonna keep doing that.
I stopped playing due to Overwatch, now I’m playing again cause Overwatch just feels so casual, all the heroes who should be high risk high reward, just aren’t.
Personally, I think both could coexist to be honest.
Give us back tradeups and trade ins, but have the card amounts be more, like 4 lead for iron, 4 iron for bronze, 6 bronze for silver, 6 silver for gold, 10 gold for cobalt, and keep in mind that’s with NO credit cost, just trade up your cards.
Let us use credits to buy crafting kits, weapon kits, and spray paint kits.
Spray Paint kits would be used to select which color of the card you want, like chrome or blue, gold, bamboo gold, or red, or silver or carbon.
Weapon kit cost should be a lot less, like 1-3 kits would be plenty.
Then, finally, here’s where it all comes together.
Silver - 4 crafting kits, 1 weapon kit, 1 spray paint can kit.
Gold - 8 crafting kits, 2 weapon kit, 2 spray paint can kit.
Cobalt - 12 crafting kits, 3 weapon kit, 3 spray paint can kit.
Note - the weapon kits and spray paint can kits are optional, you can choose not to use them, but there’s a bigger chance you won’t get what you want.
Don’t know how you’d keep fragments in but that’s my idea, I think it could have worked just fine. We didn’t need to add all this extra crap in, just have kits and allow us to go from there.
Well that’s kind of how OW is designed, so it will always be like that I guess. I dunno. OW I still don’t really like, but I am playing it because all my real life friends (Aph, Lorien, Quantum, Bankzy etc) ditched DB for it. They literally haven’t touched DB in months. It’s so annoying. All the Quake Live guys etc stopped as well. I seriously think I’m the only one left playing Dirty Bomb out of the 50+ of us originally other than Aeol, and I haven’t even seen him on lately over the last two weeks.
I do enjoy playing Dirty Bomb by myself, but it’s just becoming so stale when the player base is dying so quickly. This week during the day we’ve had 2, maybe 3 servers max running during the day, and even then you have to try and avoid the unemployed troll JiM who callvote kicks us all for fun.
At night right now isn’t much better either. Just logged in now and at the moment we have 6 servers running and only 5 of them have more than 10 people. Back in January we had more than 30 full servers running on a Friday night and even week nights we would see around 20 servers going every night.
Really got no idea what can be done to bring players back. I think they’re all just over it.

I never knew why they didnt just freaking add all the kits into the OLD system, instead of making a shitty new one that they knew we didnt like
