i´d love to see this system too and i even got an idea about how to implement this: they could just keep both systems the loadout cards (with skins for events or limited cards) and the new system.
Just an idea from me maybe they´ll think about that.
Once again, who had the bright idea to remove the original skin/loadout system?
@bontsa yes i tried and i think i done pretty well, but even if yes, its just an idea, that devs probably wont see or wont consider
@Runeforce That has actually worked for quite some games before and it’s not as stupid as you make it sound. I have heard quite a few people who say they won’t purchase any elite cases with the amount of RNG involved. So if they want to make more money, they should either reduce the RNG for cash-only cases or make the cases cheaper.
What hurts their monetization the most, though, in my opinion is the trade up system. If I want a cobalt card for my favourite merc, why would I want to gamble to even get the right merc, not to mention the loadout I want? In my opinion they should increase all drop rates for bronze or better cards, but completely remove the trade up system. Also add an option to sell cards for a few credits. The way it is right now, I personally don’t see any reason to spend cash on cases, when it involves more RNG than spending credits on trade ups.
I know well how cs:go’s system functions, worry not @ClemClem7 . And due that its not exactly right to compare full loadouts in DB to weapons in CS. Scout skin isn’t a “bad cobalt”, as scout is a situational weapon that you might use as eco sniper etcetc something. While having a skin for it is not as “valuable” because it doesnt seem to have as much playability as awp, its still not obsolete. Bad cobalt in DB is something that either sits in your inventory never seeing light of day or you use until you get something better after which it’s ditched for eternity.
And yes cards above bronzes are indeed same card just different skin. I’m not trying to suggest system where cobalts become dime-in-a-dozen, definitely and hopefully not. However separating skin and loadout would allow, for example, people who prefer desert camo (Lead) use that skin without losing on augments, would allow the guy who wants gold weapon with cobalt skin get exactly that and so forth.
@BananaSlug I didnt by any means (apologies if it sounded like it) imply your idea was bad. I just referred to it.
@Runeforce Yep, ideas like “make cobalts drop more often” etc. are exactly that. Reducing randomness in loadout system while making actual cobalt skins drop considerably less often is not greediness imo.
And for those reasons I would say that it would be HUGELY beneficial to both the players and developers if they made a much more straight forward “skin store”. Players would be able to buy any card they like, in any skin they like, for a flat rate, no garbage RNG attached.
But if they did this, I would hope that the prices would NOT be like 4.99 for silver, 12.99 for gold and 20.99 for cobalts. That is why i hate the rarity system. I would hope for prices maybe like 3.99 for Silver, 4.99 for Gold, and 5.99 for cobalt. But honestly I think it would be good if they removed the rarity system and charged a flat rate across all cards (no more rarities). Then they would have to ensure that all of their skins for sale for real money, be top-notch and agreeable to most players, other wise they wouldn’t sell. In the current system, this doesn’t matter because like you said, you roll the dice, you are stuck with that unless you want to spend more money.
I realize it would be nearly impossible for them to remove the rarity system because of the money people have spent unless they made the silver, gold, and cobalt cards from today no longer available. Kinda like founders cards I guess but not quite so valuable.
@bontsa nope, it was just me complaining that the thread is pretty useless because devs dont care (and for most of the time they should) about our ideas
@bontsa yes, they only response when there is shit storm happening… well if we want that system, we just need a shitstorm
You just completely ignored the tone I attempted to type the previous comment with didn’t ya? :< They do look around and notice these things and discussions, it would just be completely reply to every single thread. And even if they did, since Community Managers are mostly in charge of answering (at this forum, Warchest one has lot more actual developer interaction), they have to answer to certain stuff very vaguely because they might simply not know at all.
Even if they did, saying even stuff like “Oh we totally have new loadoutsystem at the works”, some very sadly vocal people will take it as “Expect it next update!” type of thing and BAM you have another mob with a pitchfork ready to roll in no time. I’m with you in that it’s frustrating to be in shadows about what is to be expected but SD’s doing fairly good for now in terms of giving us hints and telling what is upcoming.
TL;DR Devs do note constructive discussion here afaik, they should not answer to everything, I don’t mind them not answering to all the stuff here. It’s annoying, but gotta deal with it.
