Once again console owners don't get dedicated servers!

(gridlock) #1

Here we go another year another promise of unique fps game, another one without ****ing dedicated servers on consoles. I’m sorry splash damage but for me that’s a no go, skip, simply lost interest… don’t feel like trying to enjoy gaming on somebody’s AT&T basic dsl connection with 384 Kbps upload hosting capabilities

You get used to not having dedicated servers after a while. It was my only real problem when switching from PC gaming to consoles.

(ktr) #3

PC gamers say “HAHA!”

(gridlock) #4

I rather stab myself with kitchen knife, sorry but recently I’ve purchased Crysis 2 and multiplayer part is just simply ATROCIOUS

(Dracc) #5

Maybe you haven’t noticed, but this game doesn’t lend itself very well to centralized servers. Thanks for stopping by to whine, but I doubt anyone will waste any time sympathizing with someone who isn’t even going to try the game.

(Arcanoxer) #6

PC Gamers get Steamworks, so what. :frowning:

(DarkangelUK) #7

You chose the wrong platform if you wanted dedicated servers… you haven’t learned that already?

(gridlock) #8

I’m tired of $60 tryouts especially when there is no demo

(SockDog) #9

Dedicated servers do cost money, on the PC most are paid for by the users. However it would be nice as an option to allow console gamers to rent servers from GSPs (this might be cock blocked by MS and Sony though).

Edit: Not trolling but maybe save up some of those $60 and get a PC up to spec to play games.

With broadband speeds increasing, dedicated servers will be pointless for consoles. If you’re sick of bad connections and disconnects, blame the users choosing to go with crap ISP’s.

(kratier) #11

uh last i checked COD doesnt do dedicated servers for console gamers

nor do any other triple A games for consoles

why are you crying? for attention?

(Zanchile) #12

when has there ever been a console game with dedicated servers?

(gridlock) #13

I know but somehow all battlefield games on consoles managed to get em also upcoming GOW3 I seriously don’t understand their politics but wil see maybe ill rent or borrow the title 1st to see how it all works

(Herandar) #14

Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Also, with P2P, at least it means there will be multiplayer as long as there are players interested. When the dedicated console server is retired, kiss your multiplayer mode goodbye. I truly intend to play Brink for several years.

Funny because somehow every Battlefield title released on consoles runs on dedi starting from BF:MC all the way to BFBC2 including the arcade title

(kratier) #16

oh wow 1 game has it, stop the presses, all games must have dedicated servers now LOL

(kratier) #17

yeah youre just coming to the forums to cry and think someone will pay attention to you, im done with you, you already said youre not buying the game,

(DarkangelUK) #18

The last fps games I remember that used dedicated servers on console were Q3 and UT on the Dreamcast. The OP is shouting like this is a standard thing and every game should have it… sorry dude, ain’t happening any time soon. I also think team sizes among other things in the BF series are what drove dedicated servers, and not choice.

(X-Frame) #19

It all depends on the games net code. Sometimes it can be P2P and be ****ty, whereas other games you wouldn’t even notice. For example, KZ2 and 3, P2P. Most people still swear it has dedicated servers.

Compare that to Gears of War 1 and 2 and you see the difference.

(gridlock) #20

isn’t this game gonna have like 16 players ?
