That is not me telling them to upgrade to surpass a defect. That is me telling them to upgrade & more or less, I think it is a limitation problem. I have replaced the sps radio sounds with target speakers.

As for the 300+ fps…All of the competitive players I know of, get 300+(not avg. of course)…and I know about 15 or 16. Yes, all of them get that.

No EB , say him run dedicated server or give it up…
I dont know why you all must run these things in ETPro …
That is for all maps , ETPro is not home mod , it is only for online play and competitions…

EB, if you dont like opinions, dont make maps. I’m just telling you my impressions and the impressions of many others in the community. Alas though it seems that you really dont want opinions for a competition map from actual competetors.

I like the map, some good things I saw from the little I messed around with it…
-I like the look of the playing area and the command map. You did a nice job with the textures.
-The original map was way too Allies tipped. I like how you put more barrels, boxes, etc for axis to take cover behind to camp.
-I like how the scaffolding is taken away for a ladder. Only thing I can see being a problem is making it too easy for axis to guard that.

Things I don’t like with the map:
-The radios are too pleantiful and too hard to kill. I personally don’t like the music even though I can hold 76fps. Currently it takes 30 shots to kill a radio? Make it like 5 or 10 shots if you can.
-Why the mg nest in the allies spawn? I have yet to see a match where the allies get camped in their spawn. As offensive as this map is and as many 1 push caps of the foward bunker I have seen, I find it hard to believe that axis would ever push back the allies to their spawn. Lol, if they did, the allies deserve to be camped.

:drink: Cheers to you for taking the time to make what improvements in the areas you saw fit! Have to wait and maybe try to get a team to scrim or something to see how it plays in a match. GG’s and nice map.

It does need ‘our touch’ if it has bugs. There were serious issues that needed fixing. Now they are fixed. A few other minor cosmetic changes that are basically irrelevant to competition play (such as the mg nest) not worth arguing over. I don’t think anybody’s FPS is going into the crapper. I noticed no significant FPS differences with this version. Your mileage may vary.

Everyone loves to talk crap about the mappers for trying to help, but let me clue you. Mapping for Wolfy is not easy. It is 100 times harder than mapping for Unreal Tournament. The truth is that even the comp version was a little more than I was looking for, but even so I am totally willing to accept it just on the basis of the bug fixes alone. EB, reyalP and I spent a lot of time looking at the issues in this map and in finding solutions for them. Noobs and pubbers will appreciate the new features, and the ‘pros’ can ignore them and be just fine. We don’t waste our lives analyzing code and staring at Radiant just to screw players out of a few FPS.

Currently, I am researching the pause-goldcrate bug. To fix it, I have to learn what entity is responsible, how it works, how it interacts with variables in the script, and what, if anything, can be done about it.

There are people in this forum with amazing mapping skills who have thrown in the towel on mapping because of the flak and disrespect they received from end users.

You can, you just have to run two copies of ET, one dedicated and one client. You can do this from the same install, although if it isn’t fairly clean, you may run into problems, just as you would with a listen server.

As for the speaker problem, it would be a good idea to try to get feedback from people who were experiencing that specific problem. You can find them here:

yes I agree the speaker was and is still a problem. A member of my team has fps that drops below 10 when the speakers are activated. He gets good fps on other maps and throughout the rest of SD… but just not when the speakers are activated.

I like the look, some of the changes (bug fixes) were needed, some of the other stuff is just a mapper preferance to add. But a good mapper LISTENS to the community he is mapping for.

Take Ifurita for example. So many maps he has released and multiple times re-releasing for the changes requested. I personally know it is hard to map for Competition players, because if it isnt what they are used to, it might as well be a foriegn language.

I dont understand what the window issue is all about. Axis dont camp the room, the choke point is in the hallway… and a mortar would be an easy kill from the axis rear exit…

I agree that there is more to do, and EB actually did make some changes to try to fix the sound issue, but alas. The window was just to ‘legitimify’ the clip that needed to be placed in that area to control the satchel exploit. The ramp version would feature the same changes, to control the exploit.

I am willing to listen to any and ALL RELAVANT complaints.–Complaining about the fallen missile or the fallen tree will get you nowhere with me…they are obsticles meant to slightly change gameplay. What I will listen to and I feel is completely relavant is any FPS issue such as the speaker/sound problem.
-I have changed the radios from being triggered through the sps file to target_speakers. (I wish I had done the same with the alarm to have a better chance of controlling this bug.)

@ Mortis - I see you made a post just as I started this response. So you mean u want another version with a ramp ? ??

@ ReyalP - I will go there and read up, maybe even discuss the problem as well

I will make a definite/final version for the community if all of the ‘fixable’ criteria can be found and relieved.

Sorry to spam…I just came from the TWL forums. The removal of the radios, sounds to be a plausable fix.

Any other ideas for changes ?

disrespecting the “clientelle” you claim to be “working for” is equally as asshat-ish as taking a dump on new maps sight-unseen (and i grant you that has happened a lot, by many immature, ungratefull scumbags in this community). nobody is saying you should stop mapping. they are simply saying, “hey, since you made this map for ‘our community’, may we suggest this that or the other?” whether you make yourself open to those suggestions is on you. you’d be well advised to do so, however, if you’re looking for accolades. otherwise your work is likely to be seen as an imposition and that never goes over well (see: american revolution). people want to have a say in the rules that govern them. assuming leagues adopted your map without player input is what creates the fear which generates the backlash some mappers feel.

anyway, the map looks very nice. good work so far.

EDIT: i see EB posted as i was typing this, and seems willing to listen. good man :slight_smile:

ouroboro, jumping to conclusions as usual I see. :stuck_out_tongue: Can you please delete the ass-hatish stuff ?
I was picking on some that made awkward comments on the maps obsticles…of course I am willing to listen.
So what are your ideas ?

P.S. Mortis is so right, end users bash…we have to sit back and soak it up.
It does wear on ya when it ISN’T about a performance issue. Creativity and ideas create the map, when they are criticized it just seems the fun has been taken out of the whole process.
I welcoms all performance issue, texture tiling, glitched or bug complaints…but to complain about a missile that is on the ground ? That is where I say wth and ugh…followed by bah !

I have to agree about this. If you move along the side of the missile to this point there’s something invisible stopping you. It’s perfectly fine to have obstacles, but if what we see don’t match what we feel it’s just going to be annoying IMHO.

I can give you a demo of that as well if you don’t undestand what I mean. :slight_smile:

I understand the problem, there shouldn’t have been anything invisible blocking any movement. Bugs happen & I wish that the glitch wasn’t there.

@Sauron(don’t take offense):
You have to understand, it is very annoying to have people complain about things that are obsticles. No one ever complained about the HUGE abnormal barrels in SD1 and 2, but for god’s sake, a missile on the floor or a ladder cage and the sh!t hits the fan…ugh. What is wrong with a missile on the floor or the ladder cage ? imo…nothing !(besides the glitch)
With the community acting the way they do, no wonder why some mappers have quit mapping or ignore the public for the most part…they’re impossible to satisfy and if you say anything off key because ur offended by their statements…U become the dick.
Let’s get this map going…I am not here to make friends…I am here to map.

Besides;
To say my ladder cage is a " useless obstruction ", when it clearly sets apart the men from the boys on jumping skill, offends me. Different people take offense to different things and I was offended by a few things. Pardon me. Maybe he could have worded his opinions better…I ony give what I get in here.

If I get a civilized critique then I reply in a civilized manner, if I get insults…well…

Map crashes my server for some odd reason. I have it first in rotation (won’t work in any other place in rotation) and when dyno is planted at depot gates server dies. I’ve tried it with the added pk3 and without.

Can you give us more details about your server specs?

I took it out of rotation and used Supplydepot3 winter edition. It runs fine with that map. Server is rented from www.escapedturkey.com You want a list of server settings?
