I will say that its kinda ironic how Dirty Bomb’s Open Beta panned out. One would think Open Beta’s are all about mass-play testing and figuring out (via the Community) what and how to improve the game so that when its released, its a big hit. But DB’s Open Beta is kinda slow and plodding (kinda like the main menu background music), and then when it does something its like WOW SOMETHING’S HAPPENING and then meh. It’s almost like its trying to climb out of a deep hole by leaping forward and then sort of slowly falling back in.

Yeah that’s what I was saying. But I understand the confusion.
I said Skins because model changes in Warframe are called “delux skins”
As you see, not just her skin/texture/color/wraping/whateveryouwanttocallit changes but her whole model.
That’s what we need. Like the founder stuff you already mentioned.[/quote]
While i won’t say that Trinity skin doesn’t look appealing, I think limiting player models in DB is a good thing. It can already be tough for new players to join into the fray with 19 different mercs learn to look out for… (20 when turtle comes out). Having completely different costumes for those mercs would just make it that much more difficult for them.
I find nothing wrong with the current models, and its nice to quickly be able to identify who is who without having wacky skins and extra junk like hats to get in the way of the core game play.
I’d prefer to only see stuff like that in community servers, where they for instance do a complete model swap for everyone on that server, and regular servers have the regular content.
@SnakekillerX You are right to some extend but just because you change the model a bit doesn’t mean you won’t recognize the merc anymore. The Trinity change is a bit drastic, true but I just chose it to illustrate my point ^^
Just look at TF2 with it’s 9999+ hats, glasses, jackets, trousers, shoes, backpacks and other cosmetics. You can alter their apperiance so much but I’d NEVER mistage one Merc for another.
Same for Overwatch. Never played it, and most likely never will be but when I see a screenshot of a new legendary skin even I know which character that is.
Earlier in the Beta they were releasing at an acceptable pace. Every month we had 2 patch releases. One every 2 weeks. One concentrated on bug fixes if I remember correctly and a few gameplay changes if required and the other consisted of a mercenary release along with gameplay changes, again, if needed. So the players had something to look forward to every time and it wasn’t so rare that everyone would scream “OH! A patch, it’s totally happening right now!!!”. It was steady. They did that until around Thunder was released? I think? Then after that… god damn. #4everSlacking. From that moment on yeah, patches were considered a myth and probably still are.

It’s easy once you’ve seen them nekkid
Good one. But actually it’s a common design approach. Details don’t matter that much as long as the silhouettes don’t change drasticly and are distinguished enough.
@ThaiSan but dirty bomb has a much smaller diversity among silhouettes, there aren’t many differences in stature among female mercs in particular, they all run with the same animation. They just aren’t as diverse in that area. If you change the models too much, which would be easy in dirty bomb, this would be a problem. Small things, such as changing the sunglasses for Sawbonez, or the general shape of Proxy’s welding mask would be okay, but it’s easy to go too far
@ThaiSan sort of on the same tangent as @Dysfnal , the devs have frequently stated that DB is a much more ‘serious’ tone of game. Not to say there isn’t ludicrous banter in it, but they’ve frequently stated that they want to keep the Mercs of Dirty Bomb as Soldiers, whereas in Overwatch you have this much more fun, bright, goofy aspect with the Heros bearing wild skins. To that effect, I don’t really see any soldiers running around with Top Hats and stuff.
So yah, having different skins is fine, as long as it sticks to that serious, soldier aesthetic. Does kinda crush my dreams of seeing Stoker with a Top hat though.

looks confused to the WtD granny sweaters and Tron meets cheezy LSD trip ReV coveralls

And damn right they should keep on making skins every now and then in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Screw over-seriousness.
They can do whatever they want with the skins, but it would be nice to have a force enemy skin command in-game. So all the I want customization and bling bling players can do what they want and those who dont care just see everybody in a nice to the eyes default, lead, iron, bronze or whaterver skin of their liking.
Just a few suggestion from a modern styled FPS fan that can make this game better. I am expecting a more interesting weapon-using system come out in future updates. Which means there can be more types of primary weapons and can even modify weapons in the future. for secondary weapons i think DB and SD developers have done a great job. You not just put revolvers and semi pistols into the game, but also the PDW SMGs (some people call them ‘machine pistols’). However, primary weapons in the game is very limited, as my opinion.3 weapons per merc for me is not enough, in other games i use more than 5 in different teams, facing different enemies and in different maps. Many players, like me, play FPS just to enjoy the feeling of firing a gun and be in a gun fight.
I understand and know that making more weapon models and sub them into the game cost a lot a lot of time and money. But developers, SD and DB operators and even the high level managers, Do Not Forget, the game you guys making is still a FPS (even if the merc system makes it a little bit like League of Legends), its based on guns in characters’ hands.
I start to feel the singularity of the game by playing it for just less than a year. The reason is simple. Many Mercs have the same weapons and thats why i am saying there should be more electable primary weapons, especially. For example, fire support class have similar/same weapons. (timik, m4a1, Br16 and Stark AR). And even across the classes you can find mercs have the same weapon. Every player in the game used Aura as a medic, but Rhino and Proxy have 2 same weapons as Aura.
The point i want to make here is: every single class should have its unique weapons. As another free play game, Modern Combat 5, which i used to play, every class use different, totally different weapons. I know for recon/sniper class in DB has its very unique sniper rifles. But not every player has a sniper in their squad.
I think, If you guys actually going to read this whole thing, i appreciate it. But the weapons for each class, even each merc should cooperate the specialty of the merc. It is my pleasure to give some ideas that i think important to make DB great. I am only a person who enjoy playing the game, to make this game better benefits you guys, the developers, thousands of times more than how much it will benefit me.
I played W:ET, there was essentially 1 gun with 2 (axis/allies) skins, it worked great
edit: we also played with CG_drawgun 0
