Oh, my god, there are some salty people playing DB

(XavienX) #21

Least you didn’t get kicked for doing good.
I’ll be glad when private matches get put in so I can dick around with friends who also like to dick around instead of bringing our drunken shenanigans to public servers where people evidently care sometimes.

Not you though. Sounds like you’re good at the game. Can’t have that in my crew. HEH.

I mean don’t get me wrong, I never spammed anybody, but you get the point. The lacking of private matches doesn’t justify the harassment of other players, but for those with “different” tastes it does result with nowhere else for them to go without turning the game off entirely, which isn’t something I think a developer ever really wants a player to do no matter how much their sense of humor might differ from the community’s. Also, mute function. Seriously. Mute function not being in place yet does kinda blow. Beta is beta, I’m sure these types of features will be in the official release.

Anyway to the OP, I haven’t played for 500 hours or gotten good at the game, I’m a casual myself, but I still think you should be able to rally up a like minded crew and yuck it up in private matches because I do agree that there’s no one single “right way to play casual matches”, if the players get miffed at that sort of thing eh, if they feel tiggered, well, let sleeping dogs lie. That’s just what I think, amigo. I never found the friction of intentionally annoying strangers to be actually enjoyable, and it probably violates some term of service somewhere.

…Yet at the same time, the game DID tell you to PLAY DIRTY…
Its not just the voice chat spam dude, this guy is known to be abusive towards people and is a general dick when its boils down to it.

(Sorotia) #23

I suppose you play lots of comp right OP?

(PlayingUndead) #24

Well direct abuse is for suresies a violation. That should be reported. If that’s just his sense of humor coming across wrong or whatever, you know, the old “boys will be boys” thing, then it should stay in private matches with like minded folks. When it comes to verbally abusing random players, we already had a big moral discussion over here where you can read most of my thoughts about abuse in general if you’re bored or care about the subject in relation to Dirty Bomb.

EDIT: To be clear, not knowing the dude in question or having ever played a by chance match with him (or being too drunk to remember him at all), means that I definitely don’t have any right to sit here and say to report THIS SPECIFIC person or whatever. I’m just saying that if he, or ANYBODY really did those things where they actually directly verbally assault people in a deliberate, persistent, harassing and offensive way, then they should be reported. If he’s just dicking around, I’d believe there are some tryhards who can’t take a joke. I’m taking no stance on individuals here, not that any intelligent person actually cares what the hell I think hahah.

And to not be a dick… They made a big deal out of that part too.

(Sinee) #26

Yes, it is. Yes. It. Is.

Come on man, you still gotta give me some credit, I can’t take them game seriously anymore after almost 500 hours.
After 500hrs, I don’t blame you. I’m a bit over 400 and I lost my sense or ability to take stuff seriously a long time ago.
Nothing beats just T-bagging air in a warzone airslashing at nothing and screaming GIT SOOOOOME.

Hey! Sometimes you just gotta have fun… at least if you play pub. You might get kicked, but no one’s gonna ban you for having a laugh every now and then. Hope to see you in-game sometime. :joy:

(PlayingUndead) #27

That’s actually a pretty good point. “I was kicked. Heh.”

I think I got kicked once for being too drunk to face my turrets the right way or remember what an objective was. Suffice to say, I think that’s how it went down.

Ah hell yeah, I’d love that, If you’re playing on EU servers that’d be neat.

(frolicsomeCrane) #30

Hmm, I don’t remember ever being actually mean to someone unless it was some slanderous joke like calling them “low class warrior scum”, which proceeded to turn the game into a joke fest with people trying to find fancy words to slander each other.

About the ragequitting part… I don’t think I ever ragequit, mainly cuz I’m having too much fun spamming and the second part, grinding that level xp for that one case ain’t gonna grind itself, quitting a game midway = no xp for me.

And actually, I do respect people. I just hide it very well.

(frolicsomeCrane) #31

Nope.

(K1X455) #32

I guess you got a well deserved… D E N I A L

(frolicsomeCrane) #33

@Mister__Wiggles

Also I like how you somehow, without providing any actual evidence, convinced everyone that I’m a dick, for the seemingly improbable reason, that from what I understand, I somehow appear to be flaming in every game I’m in, which would in turn make me very toxic, and at the same time I’m also abusing new players, which is a completely useless topic to talk about.

From what I understand “Abusing newbies” would presume me completely wrecking them.

WELL EXCUSE ME, PRINCESS, but the level gap, and the experience I have compared to their would by default mean that I WILL “ABUSE” THEM BY “KILLING” THEM.

OH MY GOD, I’M KILLING NEW PLAYERS EVERYONE, I’M SO ABUSIVE.

I never, without a reason apart from defending do I show inflammatory behavior, and even then I keep it tame.

I don’t even know what else to say. Since when is using Voice Chat commands, WHICH HAVE A COOLDOWN considered GRIEFING, not to mention the fact that SINCE WHEN IS TEABAGGING also considered GRIEFING.

I feel like this is a personal attack and you got an issue with me, I’d be more than happy to play with you sometime, cuz I’d bet it’d be way more fun to stab you a few times in game as Phantom than continuing this discussion.

Have a link to my steam profile and add me if ya want me to prove to you that I’m not actually the Toxic player you think I am.
@Jurmabones
He also tea bags, abuses newbie players for being new and acts a complete ass in games. The voice chat and taunts are fine but when you are doing it just for a reaction its incredibly childish and most people would kick him for grief.
Get this dude on my team ASAP. Sick of whiny newbs expecting everything should be made to keep them from accepting they suck. I’d love to have a decent, vocal player who has the balls to call bads bad and can have fun using VGS and not be a total squame.

(Funkmaster_Rick) #36

So you like spamming noise. Is that why you came onto this forum and told us you were confused about how spamming got you kicked? I refuse to believe anyone capable of typing in complete sentences is that dense. Don’t feed the trolls, kids.

(frolicsomeCrane) #37

Because, despite popular belief, or whatever people think about Dirty Bomb, this game does not take itself seriously 90% of the time. It’s made to enjoy yourself, not to mention the fact that the voice acting on the mercs is astounding. When I use the voice chat commands I don’t just stick to one command, I tried them all out, for almost every merc because frankly, they have really cool and interesting things to say.

Some of them are really offensive too, which is downright hilarious, and I quote Fragger’s “Screw you” line, which has him saying “I just gave you a second ashole, ashole”, or one of his “You’re dead!” lines has him saying “SAY HI TO YOUR GOD”.

Despite the lines being amazing, people can still be killjoys and thoroughly, for some stupid reason, not enjoy the little things this game provides.

I personally don’t feel like listening to the same freaking lines over and over again that you hear in every game.

I’M ARMING C4, DISARMING C4, I’M REPAIRING THE EV. And that’s about it apart from some RARE lines you get which are auto-said by your merc when you shank someone to death or teabag them.

Speaking of teabagging, all the teabagging lines are actually the “Aw Yeahh!” lines, which for some reason hurts their feelings.

Kira has some hilarious Aw Yeah lines and I bet that most people don’t even know what she’s saying.

Not to mention the fact that you can’t literally spam voice chat commands because they have a 3 second cooldown AND if you somehow manage to screw that up you’re not allowed to use voice chat commands for 15 seconds.

I’ve had games where people would actually join in on the voice chat “Spam”. It was fun. What happened to me earlier, that happened because of players who DON’T KNOW WHAT THIS GAME IS ACTUALLY LIKE.

The Scrubs trailer is the DEFINITION of what this game is like. The people that kicked me are the exact same person in the trailer that Phantom kicks at the end of it.

Hilariously enough, I was playing Phantom and I got kicked by the scrubs, is ironic paradox.

Pardon me, sir, but I feel obliged to point out again that you used the word ‘spamming’ when first describing your use of the voice commands. Perhaps you were being mildly sarcastic and didn’t expect anyone to take it seriously, but on a communication medium that does not relay tone or body language, the actual words are all we have to go on till we’ve gotten to know you.

Spamming means doing something a lot. Its original connotations included doing it in a disruptive way, or doing so much as to make it disruptive. I think it’s fair to say that with the way you presented your own case, you went a bit out of your way to wave a giant flag saying “I intentionally annoy my team,” and then express surprise that they were annoyed.

You should probably not expect praise or jubilation.

(PlayingUndead) #39

Yeah I’m with you on this. I saw that recently all the voice files started going up on YouTube, and as an amateur VA, I’m super down with it. +1 for voice acting. If you’re curious, it seems the models are actually modeled after their VAs, and we have a little thread going about the credits for the actors.

Our very own @MissMurder had said something in the thread about confirming more actors but I’m guessing they got too busy for that or something, I don’t remember hearing more about it.

This is one of my personality defects, I like to pretend I’m more stupid and a worse company than people expect. I did want to portray myself as the bad guy cuz frankly, it’s fun being dumb. Hint Hint voice chat spamming Hint Hint
