oh, hey halos... you came back?

(TJskwared) #1

Lol seen a few new gameplay clips and was seriously -.-ed by the return of those halos, and i know this has been argued to death, and thats why i thought they had removed it like their recent vids suggested like get smart and what not, and i think it looked better without them, and they dont seem to lend themselves to the visual style of the game xD. love u SD and cant wait to get my grubby little hands on a shiny copy of brink

(throwback8) #2

What halos do you speak of?

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #3

I think he means the orange pigmented plutonium that irradiates people at a specific distance from you

(TJskwared) #4

i do indeed

(Szakalot) #5

i can imagine it being turn-offable on PC dedicated servers ; )

(madness) #6

someone from SD already said it is.

(BiigDaddyDellta) #7

From what I understand most all of the visual “effect” and HUD displays are editable.

(boozee84) #8

i like shiny people!

(throwback8) #9

From what I saw in most of the videos this is only for teammates, is that correct? It didn’t seem to bother me too much but we will see.

(TJskwared) #10

i know, its just… i dont want anyone else to have an advantage over me :’( lol

(tokamak) #11

It’s absolutely horrid and I really wonder what the devs and testers were thinking.

IF YOU’RE HOSTING A SERVER: please! Turn it off!

(TAPETRVE) #12

Er… “Eat more peanuts”…?

Seriously now, as long as we can turn **** off, no need to get all exasperated.

(Herandar) #13

You know exactly what they were/are thinking as they have explained themselves several times over. Just because you refuse to acknowledge or accept the explanation doesn’t invalidate it.

You’ve publically stated that you will not be playing Brink because of this. Everyone has accepted this (though I suspect many may share my doubts about your “pledge”). Are you still going to be posting about it in a years time? Five years? Let it go, man.

(kilL_888) #14

just want to add 1 to the counter. yes. it was a terrible decision. but its a good thing you can turn it off (i hope also clientside).

(tokamak) #15

They did not! They just said ‘we thought it was best’ that’s it! And that’s where I CAN understand their thinking. They KNOW they they treated the pc version like it’s a console game, they know this is something pc players will cause a fuzz about it so consciously refrain from discussing it in order not to fan the flames. The orange goop isn’t in any way justifiable, so they don’t even try.

(Shadowcat) #16

From the guy at the Beth forums who is answering questions:
"Rim lighting is not nearly as bad as it had been made out. I was one of the people really nervous about this, but I have barely noticed it. "

(TJskwared) #17

um… actually im a console game runs and hides

(beute) #18

damn where is my torch?

(Cheerio) #19

Eh I guess in this type of game it can be effective. But I will probly keep it off. It does not work in gears of war 3. They are too bright and hiding is a thing of the past

Its pretty simple for me , they dont want camping , actually if it was off i would probably choose a black dude, black outfits and look like a ninja in stealth mode so that would kinda give me an advantage , also with the uber customization avaible it would be hard to tell at distance if the players here friends or eneemys, thats why TFC TF2 etc have teams red and blue.

But i agree that the game without it or the 1001 huds do look better, but gameplay over looks for me so.
