Offical Resolution Sizes?

I’m considering a variety of choices for my next gaming rig monitor setup.

A. 30 inch Dell 3007WFP-HC, HP LP3065, or a Samsung 305T. All these of these monitors will support 2560x1600 via dual dvi link. Also, I’m stumped on which monitor to choose for best gaming experience with NO GHOSTING effect on the screen. If I’m paying this kind of price for a LCD monitor, I want premium quality for gaming obviously. Anyone tested any of these monitors?

B. 3 x 24 widescreen LCD monitors in which I hope to produce a MAXIMUM of 5760x1200 or with at least a minimum of 3840x1024 resolution.

Since the cost is going to be about equal, I would like to have some idea of which route to take on my purchase with the compatibly of ETQW

I would go for A

My personal preference would be A too.
I’d prefer one larger monitor, than three slightly disjointed ones.
Plus I’m not sure if you’d get games support for spreading across all three.

As to which one, best way is to make your own mind up.
Just google each model number followed by review.

5760x1200. :o
What kind of GFX card(s) will it take to be able to play next-gen games with good FPS at that resolution?

Ghosting is a bit subjective, so the only way for you to be sure if it’s good enough for you is to find a store and see for yourself. The reviews I’ve read seem positive though.

hmm, a gfx card usually has 3 outputs, DVI VGA and S-VIDEO i dont know any S-video input monitors… or you have some wicked gfx card? and no game enables that uber wide res, like you start to turn your eyes to see the edge of your view… hmm veeery interesting, and how would the 3 screens look like when connected, very big cuts between the screen… now that is ugly. and bigger screens most likely have worse responce, 30" for PC seems too big maybe, id have 23" max.

nah mate, girls always seem to tell me 6" is more than enough for anyone

11ms is well slow…i would wait a while until the speeds drop for the larger
monitors before buyin that big… I rather wait for the Sony Oled’s to come
out…

Actually, your quite wrong, Quake 3 does support multiple montitors with uber resolutions. There are some more titles that support the ultra wide resolutions too. Google around, I have for quite a long time and haven’t made up my mind yet.

Check this out for UBER monitor setup:

Actually, a 3 monitor setup looks awesome. Ever heard of Racing, or Flight simulators games? That shows an awesome view. FPS I think would have a great feel too. Although, I think I prefer A as well anyhow.

The main question in point is, what is ET:QW maximum resolution going to be?

Al Gore wants to know as well

hmm, the thing about many monitors is the gap between them, i looked at the pics, soo ugly and i hardly understood anything. now for a flight sim its different, you have different things to display, the cockpit view, external, and some more… and to get so many monitors you need some expensive hardware.
