nVidia New nForce drivers available

(MadJack) #1

Downloading the new drivers right now. From the changelog, there’s a lot of new nifty stuff… Was posted yesterday.

Get it there: nVidia nForce Drivers

Got to admit they did a fine job!

Sound sounds a lot more crisper though volume has to be brought higher. For the same output where I had to bring it about half, it’s now about 3/4…

As for the rest… I don’t know yet  If anyone gets some benchmarks it’d be nice to know.

Doesnt say much about performance so I think I’ll leave off since comp currently being very stable anyway. At least until I get bored and plenty guinea pigs have commented favourably :stuck_out_tongue:

Nice, maybe this will fix my problem with mono output only being heard on the front speakers.

Is there any point in usuing new nvidia drivers if you have old card, say G4ti200??
Do they release drivers after new games come out type thing? (i.e. im playing farcry, wuill the drivers have anything in them for that?)

(MadJack) #5

Often there are fixes for some “old” hardware with new games but don’t hold your breath.

You’ll see that mostly coming from ATI since their drivers are the worse of both so yeah.

Oh and you probably meant ge4 ti4200 not 200 right?

Don’t know if I am going mad but the nForce drivers I tried to d/l didn’t have the same release notes as what you posted DG. And it certainly didn’t rplace the soundstorm control panel with the NVMixer :< which was what i really wanted it for .

Am I mad??? Am I??

Fattakin:
Only point in upgrading your driver is if you either have some issues with your current one, or if you expect performance improvements (which I wouldn’t expect for a card that old).

Btw, this particular driver is for the nForce chipset, not for graphics cards.

@ Sauron, not necessarily. Since the new panel (wizard) has new functionality (like nvswap built-in) it is a good idea to get it in that instance. My setup is unconventional and I needed the nvswap to switch the center channel. Having that inside the new app is really better. I agree that if don’t have problems with games you’re running (that they fixed) there’s no need to upgrade but some people, like me, love to be on the bleeding edge

Oh and Sauron, did the new version fix your problem?

(DG) #9

SwordOfDamocles dunno I just copy & pasted from the notes on the winXP version download page, if there’s a more detailed notes in the file can u gimme

(Sauron|EFG) #10

Oh and Sauron, did the new version fix your problem?

Yes! The 4-speaker setup now works as expected!
