NQ xp save problem.

(dawntracker) #1

hey guys,

i havent been on this forum much. but it was a great help last time. hopefully you guys can help me this time also.

im not english. so excuse me if i write some things wrong and stuff.

anyway i have a problem. my ET server runs perfectly.
now i want to put the Noquarter mod on my server. with xp save.
only thing that doesn’t work is the new xp save directory.

the NQ example file shows the next info:

// g_XPSaveDirectory - ABSOLUTE path to a new directory that will contain .xp files.
// This is required for XP save to work.
// Directory must be created before starting your server.
// The path must not be relative like other file CVARs are, meaning, no "xpsave" value for this.
// Something like this will work: "/home/ownername/.etwolf/servername/xpsave"
// Or perhaps: "/home/ownername/noquarter/xpsave"
// Test with a /writexp command to confirm you have set this CVAR properly.
set g_XPSaveDirectory ""

i tried the following code:

/.etwolf/noquarter/xpsave

this doesnt work it seems. when i test it in the server with the rcon command: /writexp it doesnt work.

my host cant help me… (booooo!!) since they tell me they dont know anything about NQ.
dunno if it makes diffrence but the server i have is linux.

i hope someone here can help me.

thank you all in advance.

I don’t know much about it, but it does say in capitals ABSOLUTE path. The path you have tried to enter seems to be relative and therefore might not work. So you need to pass in the actual path, which on a Windows comp may be, “C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory
oquarter\xpsave”. I don’t know what the equivalent is on Linux, but basically point it to the exact place on the server you are using.

well another problem is im not that known with server hosting yet. im still not very expierenced.

when i enter the server with FTP i so nothing but a blank fiel…

i see:
then i see all maps like .etwolf and stuff.
so then i tried to brows to .etwolf>noquarter>xpsave and then copy the link that i saw:
.etwolf
oquarter\xpsave

this is the only thing that keeps bothering me with NQ…
btw isnt it possible to place the xpsave on redirect?

In linux the filesystem is a little bit different (and better) than in windows:

You don’t have drive letters, every drive is assigned to a folder.
The root of the directory tree is called “root” and is the folder “/”. Mostly this is a small harddrive. Another harddrive is assigned to the folder home/ (a / behind a name indicates a folder [for better reading], but is not necessary; and sometimes not allowed eg. in some config files) and placed inside the “root directory”, the absolute path to this drive is now “/home/” (a leading / always means an absolute path)
An example for your ET installation would be: “/home/user354/.etwolf”
(user354 is an example name)

When you login to your ftp account you will probably see the items in the directory “/home/user354” without knowing that you are in this directory. .etwolf is now a relative path, and /.etwolf conpletely wrong, because in the server root is no .etwolf folder …

short: get your absolut path and combine it with your relative path you see in your ftp

(I can’t recognize the needed command, sorry, maybe “pwd” works, just try it or google or stress somebody in irc …

good luck
