NQ Soundpack Troubles

(Knobby) #1

Hi guys,

Need some help if possiblle.

Ok i am trying to add a new soundpack to NQ 123 server, everytime I upload the new sp
then connect to server to test I have no quick chat keys working ( T , U, and Y).
If I remove the top “quickmessage” text from the ui folder script quick chat keys will
work ok with new sp loaded in, BUT I then have no “V” quickmessage key.

Please Help If You Can

Many Thanks

Knobby

Is it a soundpack that you’ve found somewhere?
Or have you created your own one?

it’s a soundpack I have found and reduced some what.
I have even tried using the wm_quickmessage from the nq 1.2.5.pk3

(stealth6) #4

hehe
The scripts are broken it seems from what you describe. If you thought you could cut down the pack size by deleting the scripts then you were wrong

Of course the wm_quickmessage from nq 1.2.5 won’t work since it doesn’t have the extra sounds.

So you need to leave the soundpack you found as it was. If it then still doesn’t work then the creator messed up the scripts.

Sorry you mis-understood me.
What I meant was I even tried using to correct original scripts with the new script added to the end of it, had the script checked by various ppl after my head started throbbing lol, they all say it’s fine and should work.

Her is the script file if you wouldn’t mind having a look??

I have hosted it rather than post due to its size lol.

To Add,

The actual soundpack itself works fine It’s the "T, Y and U keys in game players use for
chatting that stop working.

You should give a link to the complete changed soundpack (the one you want to use).

(Nail) #8

are those keys rebound to something else in that soundpak

(Knobby) #9

nope key not bound to something else, will post link to complete sounpack next.

Thank you

Update,

I have noticed when I push the “T” key the mouse cursor appears on the screen,
don’t know if that will help point towards a solution??

Here is a link to the complete SoundPack

Agian Many Thanks Guys I am Very Grateful.

The scripts are definetly broken I can tell you that since I made a soundpack once and if you make a small mistake then it’s very likely the whole thing won’t work.
Don’t have time to look at it now so wll do later.

kewl ok thanx alot

hmm, strange.

I downloaded the soundpack you linked to. Put it in my jaymod folder, started jaymod server connected.
Everything works fine, T, Y, U and V all works perfectly.

Disconnect, shutdown server.

Put the soundpack in my noquarter directory, start up noquarter server, connect.
Try everything T, Y, U, V in spec and in a team (allies). Works fine.

So long story short there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the soundpack at all.

How is it setup on your server and do you restart the server once it’s uploaded?

(nUllSkillZ) #14

May be it’s a problem with his cfg.
May be keys are bound different.
Knobby, do you bind your keys to other actions in one of your cfg’s?

(Knobby) #15

Hi Guys

Ok its actually Macbeth’s server  and no i do not have those keys bound to n e thing else, it was actually bethy and a couple of players that noticed it
so it seems there is a problem somewhere serverside with cfg’s.
I’ve been pulling my hair out lol I didnt think there was anything wrong with the soundpack

Thanks guys

Not sure how to go about this now lol, bethy does not like tochange anything

Your soundpack is most likely too big (as in too much entries, not the filesize). Try to remove those 8th and 9th Monty Python menu’s and try again.

If that still doesn’t work, remove another menu or cut some sounds from the other ones.

(stealth6) #17

naa really doubt that, I’ve seen MUCH more elaborate soundpacks work fine.

The only thing I saw was that the file containing the sounds was called ‘chat’ and in pak0 there is also a a folder called ‘chat’

Maybe causing a conflict?
But I’ve seen that too so don’t know.

(MickyP) #18

Delete wm_quickmessage.menu from the pk3

I’ve tested this in nq123 & it works

I’ve seen the same error twice before, you don’t need this file for the voicechats to work just wm_quickmessageAlt.menu
