Noticed something with the default cards

(AnonOmis1000) #1

They now also say “first edition”. Does this mean we will have another set of default cards?

(Maverix) #2

Yes. Second edition coming Soon™.

(doxjq) #3

When I first saw this thread I thought “Ah, probably someone new to the forums who has never heard of this” but then I saw 351 posts and now I have to ask where you’ve been hiding? There’s been so much discussion over the 2nd gen cards going back to before the event even started 5 weeks ago lol.

(AnonOmis1000) #4

I’m not talking about second edition cards in general, I’m talking specifically aboit the DEFAULT cards.

(doxjq) #5

Oh, my bad. But then you’re right, probably not. My understanding was the weapons on the new cards were all staying as they are and just the perks were changing, so default cards would be no different. Who knows though.

(doxjq) #6

Although, mind you wouldn’t they have to? I guess all the mercs will keep their 3 primaries/secondaries and melee weapons but it would be pretty stupid if they didn’t mix them around. Would seem dumb to have M62 first generation for fragger and M62 second generation for fragger. I’ll be pretty surprised if we don’t see new numbers on the cards.

(AnonOmis1000) #7

Well the default cards only have one primary, one secondary, and one melee for each merc. The second edition default cards could have a different combination. Like perhaps a Phantom with a KEK-10, DE.50, and Beckhill.

(AnonOmis1000) #8

Well, with the exception of Sparks, all 9 cards for each merc consist of ball possible combinations of primary and secondary weapons (no idea how they pick the melee). So the letter abd first number would, at least, stay the same. The second number might be the same, then the description word would be different as they’d have different augments.

(grandioseCutlet) #9

Actually some cards will stay exactly the same, at least that’s what I understood from that: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dirtybomb/comments/4i4hlh/how_will_card_tradeups_be_managed_with_the/

If I understand what Exedore says correctly, for example, there would be Sparks 383 1st gen and Sparks 383 2nd gen, which would be exactly the same, only the name would change. Seems pretty weird but that’s what I get from he says.

(AnonOmis1000) #10

If the name changes that means the augments will change.

(grandioseCutlet) #11

The name I’m talking about is 1st gen or 2nd gen, obviously it would still be 383.

(doxjq) #12

Yeah as long as it’s one of the weapons each merc has out of their 3, I suspect so.

(AnonOmis1000) #13

Well the augments can still change. 343 only indicates which primary, secondary, and melee weapon is on the card, not the augments. The word after the 343 might change then.

(FerfyDerf) #14

I would imagine the default loadouts are given upon startup, and it’s simply current players have gotten Gen 1 default since that’s what we have. New players will get Gen 2.

Just a hunch.

(grandioseCutlet) #15

Yeah I know but read what Exedore says. Maybe you’re right and they’ll get new augments, but what he said is that some cards will remain exactly the same (same augments too) in 2nd gen.

Which means that 1st gen 383 and 2nd gen 383 would apparently be exactly identical.

(AnonOmis1000) #16

But if they will be exactly the same, why give them a first edition tag? I don’t think it’d be a bad idea for there to be more than one default card for each merc

(grandioseCutlet) #17

That’s exactly what I find weird. And on top of that, some mercs like Sparks will get 8 new cards while other with more balanced loadouts will probably only get 2 or 3…

Which means Sparks will have 17 loadouts (half of them being terrible but still) and other mercs only 11 or 12…

On paper, all mercs will have 18 loadouts, but some of them will have 6 or 7 or maybe even more duplicates while others (Sparks at least) will have only 1 duplicate.

(FerfyDerf) #18

A bit off topic, but I really hope the 181 card doesn’t go away. It’s fun using Springy and Flying Pig at the same time.

(HunterAssassin5) #19

gen2 cards? of course, people remember me around here a lot of the time, but somehow i was out of the loop anyway lol?

i mean, it wouldnt be the first time i was uninformed about what was apparently public knowledge, but damn.

(Szab95) #20

Shoe said in yesterdays stream that some merc will get more new loadouts than others. For example he said Aimee likely won’t get any or just a few while Sparks loadouts needed more work because of the 383 is more superior than the others.
