I know that feel … I’m in for more that 300$ and I don’t regret it simply by considering the good folks I get to play with in the drafts. The game has gone a long way already and we all know there is no fun without a risk. I hope our patience will get rewarded.

i’ve played everything honestly, but nothing has ever really gotten me like ET did. Watching how strats developed over time and so dynamically has never been reproduced for me. This game is similar in many regards to me, but lack of revive shields, and movement speed (i personally feel) are the 2 main reasons that people are mad as hell

Not specifically referring to this game in its current state as being great, however I find that most gamers with a “favorite game” or “best game elitism” in general will never acknowledge any other game or iteration as remotely good or having it’s own unique experience/potential. But I guess the biggest problem was that some people walked into this game expecting it to be all the same down to the detail. In most cases I find that a lot of people just want the fulfillment they think they deserve when it comes to their “skill” whether that’s wiping pubs or comp or whatever they were previously used to in ET or any other game. There’s some moderate skill and strategy in Xt, but if it improves and expands into it’s own- I’d consider that capturing the magic of a complete and interesting feeling game. Still a long ways to go for that, but it’s been tough to get people to actually break away from (insert your game here) as the only solution to every detail.

i completely agree. ET is the only game that i took seriously, everything else just cant hold my interest. i think ive had more fun playing L4D2 than i have anything in the past few years 
BF4, and CoD2/4 are the only other games with good enough shooting mechanics for me to even pub

Who actually expected a ET like game anyway?
The gameplay (weapons, theme, timeframe) and especially the artwork are not even close to ET or a reboot.
Except for that electic sign maybe

better concentrate now, and tell me what is the core of this so called ET magic. Is it something that can be created or is it rather the subjective reception of any game
(you love the game so it has this magic; you love a game, so maybe you have more positive thoughts about it and you dont (want) see negative aspects, because from your point of you everything is fine and somewhat perfect)
See it positive, next time when you will read sth like “captures magic of…” you wont be blended by your wishful thinking^^
Still i think extraction is on a good way; For me the game is second. The primary IS and ever will be the community. We guys that are playing and turning this game into some enjoyable place. The game is just the tool for the community, you see? I mean if the basics of a game are there, the rest is just “nice to have”.
I didnt play BF3 competively because it was a great comp game.
I played it because it was somewhat fun, and there was the community that kept me playing. I mean if there is a really bad community where you dont like no one you wont play the game, no matter how good it is.
