Not much news ...

It is a transition period and they haven’t been silent… maybe you’ve ignored all the posts saying that they are working hard to get the CB version ready for more people. SD has been talking to us. Your fault for not listening in.

And it is funny now seeing that at this moment the 6 threads listed below this one have the “dev” icon so you can’t even make excuse for this thread.

Simply put a lot of effort has been going on the transition to closed beta from closed alpha. Much of this work isn’t that exciting (migrating users, scheduling, updates to the online services etc) so it doesn’t stand out.

Rest assured the dev team have been doing a lot of tweaks to the game though, you should start to see these going in fairly soon, as well as more beta testers arriving.

Maybe you don’t remember, but it used to be a sharing platform out here in this forum with a lot more going on. And this was good, because communication was active from both sides. And especially in a transition period you need good communication. I’m perfectly aware that they have a lot of work, they are game developers, not state workers …

Again, I’m not saying they are not present on the forum, I’m saying there is a shortage of communication with them, and this is not new. It started already a few times ago. Look in the update video, custom block-outs, competitive feedback, and even in the VIP section : it’s been a while since I saw a post from the devs saying they wanna do this and this, expecting us to give feedback on it.

I do understand this. But I started this thread with consideration for a larger period of time. I’ve been working in IT, I know the general principle of how to make the customers happy, and it goes through frequent communication. I’m simply afraid that more and more changes will happen and get implemented without the customer to know about it …

This would be a start …

i honestly have no idea what you’re bitching about at all. they’ve done a great job keeping us informed with plans and progression. the last 2 months have been major steps, and take time.

(rookie1) #28

I think we all very eager something happends …very soon …anything

(DB Genome editor) #29

That’s understood, but should pretty much only affect the core coding team. We used to get regular video updates for maps, character art, audio and animation for instance, have these teams been dragged into the migration effort as well? Or is it the people responsible for the nicely packaging those videos that have been too busy?

I’m not really complaining, just confused by the silence on aspects of the game that should have progressed independently of the migration since they are supposed to be handled by separate teams

(biggyyyb) #30

Calm your tits, they are doing a good job and communication level/frequency is pretty impressive considering all the major business changes.

I’m assuming employees wear multiple hats. And not necessarily being a game designer makes you a coder either.

What would you rather have them do in any case… perfect the game for which the community has high standards or work on a video update for what remains pretty much an alpha product still transitioning to a beta product?

What is the point of wasting time and money on making video updates for a product that isn’t even out yet? I’d hope money and time goes towards better things than that.

What a silly thread… OP is talking about the game being dead while it isn’t even a proper beta product let alone released.

(FireWater) #33

I personally feel it was a mistake to purchase the alpha I did it in a moment of anger over the firefall changes that occurred. From now on I am only playing finished games because at the end of the day the developers will do whatever they want regardless how many essays or pleas the community makes.

They are the professionals we are the fans, you would expect your favorite sports franchise to take fan advice on who to trade for or draft. I just wish companies would stop mis-marketing the whole gamers have a voice feature. We have a voice sure, but we are seemingly always voting for the loser candidate, so how much of a voice do we really have?

(Breo) #34

Actually I saw a lot of changes coming from the community in the patches. I wish SD used a bug tracker like Arma3

not he who is mistaken and wrong-guiding is bad, but he who doesnt have guts to admit his mistakes. ( c)

First you should try not to insult or look down on people as soon as you don’t agree with them.

Second, I’d rather see what’s gonna happen by the mean of videos or polls on the forum and tell SD I like/don’t like it before they spend money implementing it. What you call “wasting money and time” on videos is a small investment if it can save hours of work afterwards, it’s called “requirements definition” in IT, sorry if you’re not in that industry, but that’s how we work and there is a reason for it : it saves big money in the end.

And from what I have seen, yes : the game looks living dead to me now. There’s a clear diminution of posts, active players and drafts for many reasons and the transition to the beta ain’t the only one. We were much more active before and I regret that. I simply hope this will pass and that we can get back to more testing / giving feedback. This thread ain’t “silly”, it’s about why we are here and I’ve been having many concerns for XT lately. This is for the good of this game and if you can’t see that, then I’d say it’s too bad, but not my problem.

(Glottis-3D) #37

Its the problem of the playerbase. This particular playerbase mostly consists of sd-fans or ex-fans. Sd is obviously trying to appleal to other gamers out there. But the quiestion is does you typical nexon player NEED sd-game? Is extraction anybetter than combatarms from the point of view of your typical nexon gamer? I dont know. But i am pretty sure that in their attempt to please larger audience - and this is not your nearest audience like ir was in etqw and battlefield 2145 - they just might loose to much in their core base.

erm, I didn’t insult anyone and yeah the thread is silly as your concerns had been addressed several times over. Got even dumber when you said the game is dead, in light of all the facts involved. I shouldn’t have taken you off ignore, you’re just argumentative over nothing if you’re babying about having your thread called silly.

(aowblacky) #39

ofc we are sd-fans! they captured many of us with “captures the magic of ET” and similar sentences. where are those statements now? where is the magic of ET, wich was the reason why i invested 200+€ into this? cant see anything of it. sorry, but they completly changed the way.

atm it feels like i spent 200+€ for a free2play title wich i will never play. yay -.-
