Noobs Unite!

Man, am I sick of all the noob flaming. It’s just a fucking game! (Albeit an addictive one). I have been playing about 3 months, gradually figuring it out. Are there any al lnoob servers out there for those of us who also have a life, and have not yet achieved the all-knowing god-like status of the full time gaming elitist assholes?

There are some noob servers around, but the problem is that they tend to be populated by idiots looking for easy kills.

Noobs need to start calling those who call them noobs “Bitter Veterans”.

Or Asshats, or llamas, or egotistical manure for brains “EMB’s”.

Ah of course… It’s gotta be the fault of the guys that know what they’re doing, I see how it works now…

Yes there are some “Bitter Veterans” out there but don’t think for a second there aren’t plenty of asshat beginners also…

So blame it on whoever you want, doubt it makes any difference to anyone here…

I have found plenty of players who call people n00bs arent that good at the game anyway,just cos someone might call someone a n00b doesnt mean they are experienced players or veterans.

Lately I have found alot of players sayin “OMG my team is full of n00bs” only to found the guy what says it is a crap player himself.

I got called a n00b myself the other day and it did annoy me a tad.

I do find it can be really annoying if a “n00b” tk’s/ fouls up ur teams objectives by doing something a “Bitter Veteran” may find an obscene ridicularity.

However, whilst it is annoying, i always try to judge someone based on intent rather than pure deed. I saw someone on the SD server the other day who looked like a potential TK. Turns out he was just REALLY pants!

I also find people far too ready to calls others “n00bs”, personally I do not like the term as it is far to vague and many have differing beliefs of it’s true connotation.

As a simple rule: If you don’t like the server you are on…it’s best to find another more suited to your:

     (i) Personal preference
     (ii) Skill level

Don’t think this game has been around long enough for anyone to be veterans.
I must admit i hate all this “n00b” bashing i see on servers.So long as as everyone is enjoying themselves and not health stripping and tk’ing then i can’t see what the problem is.

I’ve sat there waiting for a medic many a time and when one turns up he spends and age cycling through every imaginable item untill he finds the needle then crouches down after missing me twice and gets killed :frowning:
Shouting or insulting these type of players is just lame imo everyone has to start somewhere so you will never see me flaming other players.
I haven’t been playing e.t that long but i’m lucky because i have played Rtcw since the demo came out so got a big headstart on alot of players.

Some of these people that call others n00bs seem to be bigger n00bs themselves imo and just give it the “big one” to cover up the fact that they are not that good themselves.
E.t is a superb game to play on public servers and is tons of fun i just wish people would ease up on their quest to flame everyone in a vain attempt to make themselves look “1337” infront of their peers.

This is exactly right. In my experience good players dont (this is not a 100% rule) call other users n00bs unless severly provoked. Anywhere you go on the internet their are poeple who have a sense of their own self rightousness and insult poeple without thought or reason. It happens in ET games, on this forum (i broswed this forum for about six months before i plucked up the courage to write anything) and everywhere on the net. The net can be a great way to meet people but it can just as easily be a harsh and nasty place full of foul mouthed idoits who have not yet realised that the world does not revolve around them.

We were all N00bz once.

The best way to stop a N00b from ruining your day is to educate 'em out of being a N00b. If it’s a public server, anyone can play. If you want a particular standard or type of player, get your virtual ass to a server dedicated to that sort of thing.

I’m always more impressed with players who take the time to politely help even the most clueless of N00bz than the ones who make a great show of flaming them.

Also, don’t forget, if you’ve never played an online FPS before, you may not be paying any attention to the Chat line. There’s an awful lot of information on that screen, and the tr00 N00b may be completely overwhelmed with information. So if they “ignore” you, they may well not realise they’re doing it, or that you’ve said anything, or that they’re doing anything wrong.

We’re all ambassadors for each other, and for online games. Get out there and win some hearts and minds for the righteous.

Of course, if they keep TKing you… :weird:

Yeah that’s great in theory, until you come across those stupid gits that don’t want to be helped. The other day I saw a guy trying to kill a body for the uniform and was aiming at his head and (because the hitbox is too small) he was missing. He emptied a sten clip, a pistol clip and then started knifing the head (I know because it was me that was dead). I said to him, “<name> - you need to stab bodies in the middle to kill them totally”. His reply was an eloquant and clearly justified “F**K YOU FAGGOT”

I used to be of the helping persuasion, but there just isn’t any gratitude from some players. They all think they know everything and can’t be taught anything new. The only time I’ve ever seen someone thank someone for help was when they first asked for the help. If you offer help without prompting they just throw it in your face.

And people also hate direction. Like if the team consists of 9 covert ops and one field ops and we’re playing oasis. A little “guys, we need more engies” often results in a “get stuffed, I’ll play what I like”.

The morale of the story? People are scum, live with it. :smiley:

Glad to hear some positive noises out there. My rant is over, on with the game! Now that my bumbling ET infancy is past, I will try to learn a thing or two by observation. See you all in my favorite maps, Oasis and Goldrush, Ill be the guy killing you long range with a mobile MG. Thats fun!

Here’s some advice for all you n00bz who want to become bitter veterans - don’t get cocky!

I see it all too often. One side starts to own the other due to a skill level imbalance, so they start pushing forward trying to do the ultimate owning move of pinning them in their spawn, but invariably, one or two good players sneak through and blow the objective leaving the cocky team to sulk and claim they cheated.

Happens all the time.

A truly good player knows to draw a line between owning them and making sure they can’t get lucky. Of course, thos only really applies to defensive teams. If you want good offensive advice - MOVE!!! And don’t stop until you are in your cold, cold grave!

The true noobs in my eyes are the ppl with bad attitudes. Such as last night I had to put up with 2 ppl flaming each other for ages which tottaly ruined my game :frowning:
