Noob rant

(Tom2160) #1

Please for the love of God can you make a game rule so that only ONE person can defuse at a time. For example I was the only engineer on our team however 3 other people were trying to defuse whilst I was already defusing. I do try to play on min level 10 servers so I can play with people that have somewhat of a brain.

Either way I would love a system which would work like this: Normal merc > Merc with mechanic > Engineer. If one of the more capable mercs start defusing the other would automatically stop defusing. I’m tired of ‘noobs’ not covering me when I try to defuse last 10 second bombs or ‘noobs’ repairing whilst I or another engineer repairs whilst they could be being useful.

Well… this already works like this.

EDIT: Ok, since @Dox and @Kelben are hella fast with giving disagrees I want to explain: I thought OP is saying about people actually defusing/repairing not the animation that looks like they are defusing/repairing. And as we all know, only one can ACTUALLY defuse.

(Tom2160) #3

Yes, only one person actually defuses at a time but on their screen they still see them doing the objective. This means some people still repair/defuse/plant/deliver at the same time.

But it looks like “teammate repairing” line should be in capitals, in 10 times bigger scale and cover whole screen to be more obvious.

No, the line should be different, and I don’t know why they didn’t change it yet. It should say “YOU ARE NOT REPARING, your teammate is repairing” or something like this.

You got the idea.

This is a problem. I still see this from time to time on min. 10 servers too, no one is safe, save us Splash Damage!!

(KattiValk) #8

Perhaps we need an animation where the person already repairing/defusing would: pull the other merc face to face, stare at them, and yell “COVER ME, I’M DEFUSING/REPAIRING THE OBJECTIVE!”

Not really, but it’d be funny to have.

Not sure if all mercs, but at least Engineers seem to call a voiceline like “Cover me, ok?” if somebody else hops into repairs/defusal while they’re doing it already.

Animation where the faster repairer slaps the crap out of slower silly stackers face is highly needed though, urgently even.

(Teflon Love) #10

They could just rephrase the unspecific “Teammate repairing” to a sentence telling the other player what to do.

If someone already repairs and you start repairing too, pop up “Stop repairing and cover your teammate who already repairs”.

If you are repairing and someone better suited takes over, pop up “Stop repairing and cover the engineer/mechanic who just took over”.

And if you don’t stop within 2 seconds, the game autokicks you to a repair tutorial.

I wouldn’t waste time on animations or more voice lines. Some people are really oblivious to their environment, as I experience every time I play Sawbonez and try to heal them

Just put a seizure inducing size 72 text pulsing with every color of the rainbow + some high pitched tone. That should do it.

That’s why I prefer Phoenix over Sawbonez. When I play Sawbonez I usually shout TAKE THE FUCKING MEDPACK. Sometimes it helps

(Yoma) #13

Only way to get it for those who dont get it after you wrote in into chat is, that they get instantly kicked from the game.

Newbies are usually bad medics aswell because they got 0,0000000 map awarness. If you lay just 1mm behind them they wont notice you and you will just lay there forever. Today i was laying around the corner to EV at Brigde and 2 Sawbonez just walked over me. I dont mind being stepped on… but not by (black) men whichs job actually is to revive me.

Teammate Reapairing
Cover them!

(doxjq) #15

Just take away the progression bar for people who aren’t doing it. That’s the easiest solution.

I think that’s the biggest problem. It says teammate repairing if someone higher is already doing it but they don’t look at that, they just watch the progress bar.

Or a greyed out bar.

(Diosito) #17

Players will keep doing it, no matter what, so, all you will get are players creating threads like “Repairing is not working” or whining about it in game… IMO, the best you can do is play only on minimun 10 and 20 level servers.

As I said before (many times): Devs can’t fix the lack of common/battle sense

They can, if they made it so one person can only do it at a time. Make it so normal mercs can’t do it at the same time an engineer is. Why it even lets you both do it is beyond me.

(Amerika) #19

It would need to make a super loud buzzing noise and have somebody say, “Teammate repairing. Cover them!!” And even then it might not help.

I do agree that the biggest issue is that the progress bar still shows up when at minimum they could remove that and put a big text message saying a teammate is already repairing.

(Diosito) #20

That’s my point, they will end up confused about why repairing is not working, they will not realize about “the new rule”, as well as they don’t realize the fact that 2 mercs repairing at the same time are pointless.

And so on, ad infinitum…
