In this case you also can accept that people dont have time to answer the same question over and over
Noob brink question
Well let’s be honest we all do have way too much time on our hands, but we like to pretend we don’t have the time for it.
It’s still bad etiquette to deem yourself important enough to have your already answered questions dealt with in your very own topic. That’s why I made that FAQ thread a whole while back, and it’s quite a shame to see so many threads after that asking questions that had been answered (by the devs no less) there.
“Unnecessary noob-hazing” indeed.
I’d still like to point out again the repeated question was “what engine is this?” and not “what are the requirements/will this run on my pc?”. I mean could you pick a more obscure, useless, blackbox fact for a sole topic? At least with 50 “min req” threads there’s some personalization to it and more to consider than spew random factoid that affects nothing. I don’t understand the mindset that produces eagerness for useless stuff like this though. It’s like asking your mayor how many gallons of water does a single apple tree in the public park consume.
Should be around 200 Liters / day Iirc. Divide by 3,54 and voila! (That I have time to answer, I’m no evil!)
I think what glares the most about repeated questions is that they usually ignite a discussion that has long been had already. So the older members see it unfold gain, debunked arguments are raised once more and all sense of progress is lost.
It doesn’t mean the discussions themselves aren’t interesting, but it’s way more constructive to continue from the point where the old ones left off.
Problem is, new people usually wants so bad to “add” their opinion to the discussion, even if it’s a view long shared and balanced.
