Yes, it’s not just the facial features though. Everything is a slight caricature.
Noob brink question
I have yet to find this ‘‘lack of respect’’, Nail, but that might be just me, and that might be just you
Just becuase someone tagged a thread with ‘‘ballsack of lead’’ and ‘‘nutty daddy issues with cream’’ doesn’t mean that the majority of people here are like this, and… Well, I think you already know this, but badman fixed it so only the thread opener can add tags
And with interesting games comes intersting people ;)
This coming from a gamer who refers to winning by a large margin as “wholesale rape”.
Wasn’t it coined as Hyper-realism as well? Not so much cartoony and not so much realism. They took specific facial and body features and pronounced them so as to make Brink look quite different then anything else on the market.
Edit: ninja-ed!
The point of doing that was so that anyone that saw brink knew it was brink. And it works.
Hur durr, look at the videos? Screenshot? articles?

Seriously I’m usually nice with the forum’s newcomers but its getting madness over there, a bazzilion new thread each day about the same / old subjects over and over! I clearly sound like an asshole here but it’s getting on ma nerves!
Bye!
[sarcasm]Yeah really. God forbid that anyone who hasn’t been following the game intensely for a year should have the audacity to come onto the forums and ask a simple question without getting unnecessarily reamed out by a total dick.[/sarcasm]
As if a duplicate topic here and there is just making the place intolerable to read or look at, or somehow having any affect on your day or life.
console chatter related to seta and cvar.
Everything you said was reasonable except for this^. You have no reasonable expectation to be free of console gamers or talk about consoles in a forum for a game that is available on consoles. Neither Brink nor SD belong to PC gaming, and to make such a statement just makes you look like a dick, which, as I’ve gotten to know you a little better, is unfair to yourself.

it was expected, the closer we get to release the more ppl will join the forums, and even more after release.
Wich is why i think would be a good idea to separate the forums into different sections to keep it more organized, we can have a “general questions” section, “news and updates” section, “Class discussion” section, etc…
I know, as said I dont mind the newcomers, but its just gettin annoying to read the forums where there are 20+ threads each day, most of them talking bout the same subjects, or closely related ones, and I wont be ashamed on my asshatery about this… Its just an annoyance, and thats not like there isnt any tools to search the forums…
Meh
You can forgive people when they need to use search to find if a topic has been spoken about since search is not infalliable… But when 2+ threads about the exact same topic (as per the new abilities video) appear within a few topics of eachother… that is annoying.
I always like the obligatory “I’m sorry if this has been posted before” crap at the start… yeah, sure you are.
“I’ve searched everywhere and tried everything!” is the worst. Whenever it’s this obvious that phrase is always an outright lie for sympathy or saving face. I’m sorry, but for the dozens of forums I’ve used and the countless posts I’ve seen, this cliche phrase is always littered everywhere. I’d prefer they just admit they were lazy but were happy for the answer. The instant gratification of facts that are inconsequential to them are a waste of time. It’s not like “Oh I need to know the engine because I’m a computer scientist looking for inspiration on my own engine plans with the OpenGL API.” Learn to use search. Come up with a real topic. Now I’ve had my turn at the dead horse.
The thing is, I bet they plugged some generic phrase into the site’s search bar, but haven’t tried Google or anything. Sometimes people just want to be a part of the community and have no better way of breaking the ice. They just want to come up with something they feel comfortable asking and further participating in… fair enough. And most of the members do their part by shaming them into conformity immediately after… which is also fair enough.
I break the ice on a forum by pretending I’ve always been there and know what I’m talking about. If I don’t what I’m doing I’ll lurk until I think of something to say. These are forums, not genuine socializing. You can change your identity at will and everything is anonymous. So content becomes more important than social graces.
While I concur, I also realize that not everyone is as tempered as you or I, or some of the other folks on here or other forums… some people are more of the “jump right in” "hai guyz!’ type of posters.
I’m just saying; it’s innocent enough. And the vets (fulfilling their role as regulars - and jerks, at once) do their part in showing these enthusiastic guys the ropes. shrugs It seems to regulate itself and work well enough. New people almost never turn out to be a “bad” thing, unless they are openly trolling.
I usually break the ice with a question that I really can’t find the answer to, or when i can actually bring something to the table.
Lurked here for a while before ended up posting the weapon list.
But honestly, forums are partially there to answer questions. I do my best to find an answer on my own, and search a forum before I post, but how much time should a person put into finding the answer to a question when simply asking could get you the answer quickly from someone who already knows. Sure, its mildly annoying to have to keep saying the same answers, but we know the answers, so this is the place to ask. (or we at least know that there is no confirmed answer)
The only time it bothers me that much is when there is already a thread on the exact same topic on the front page. That means they didn’t even look that far.
Love when Auzner and Ajax’s Spear have a back and forth conversation. Feel like I’m in the Wild West!
I approach all forums the same way. If I’m going to spend some of my precious time on a forum seeking whatever it may be that I seek, I’m going to do it the easiest and quickest possible way. If that steps on toes because of some unwritten rule hitherto unknown to me, that’s tough. If I want to come right out and ask a question I’m going to. If that’s unacceptable, I’m moving on to the next source. I don’t have time to spend appeasing people I don’t know for the sake of forum-specific etiquette.
Again, I understand there are others out there that feel this way. That is why I have a newcomer’s question section for those like me. If such a section doesn’t exist elsewhere, then the flood of noob questions that litter a forum will just have to be tolerated.

I’ve also learned something about cel shading!
