Nobody to get rid of bots here?

(Chris Mullins) #61

Heard back from the spam guys. They said they’ve tweaked how our service performs on their end which should improve things. Let us know how things are looking by the end of the week and we’ll re-assess if thinks don’t look good.

Thanks for raising this. Are any active users experiencing this?

(Mustang) #64

Happens from time to time, if they report it then it gets cleaned up for them.

(Nail) #65

I report what I can, but it would be a full time job to even catch up. Just a look through the latest joins will give you an idea how prevalent it is.

edit: now I’m getting PM spam again

(Nail) #66

we’re back to full time spammers again

(Chris Mullins) #67

We’re going to be updating new account permissions to hopefully stop DM spam. Once this is completed we’ll let you know and again keep an eye on things.

Thanks for letting us know!

ain’t working

get your money back

Move over to different board software @shoe, vBulletin to the junkyard! Even fluxBB is better in that aspect…

Alternatively, install two-step verification (reCaptcha) so bots dont circumvent the current registration form?

(montheponies) #71

still a problem…

(ronboy) #72

Now the spam bots are posting in the Rtcw section of the forum. Please address this issue, Splash Damage.

There are less intrusive things to try first.

Just because not long ago i was wondering “well, wasn’t it nice when we had these spambots … they simulated some activity and i could get emotional about something concerning dirtybomb”

No, just kiddin’. Actually a bit more seriously: Offer the gals’nguys responsible for removing spampossibilities some beverages from the local pubs, because as it seems they did a marvellous job! Haven’t seen a malicious posting for quite a while. Either they did not try again or they were successfully hindered from trying.

cheers
H

edit: ok, FML. Do not bother to tell me … i’ll see myself out. (spammed just tonight --> http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/57265-WrestleMania-33?p=563447#post563447 :frowning: )

(light_sh4v0r) #77

(ronboy) #78

Lol, this is funny. A bot is posting on a topic about getting rid of bots. :penguin:
