I was expecting wall to wall ninja gameplay.
:stroggtapir: I like this Stroggtapir BTW.
I guess this game is not much like TF2?
Not to offend anybody but I expected this game to be TF2 plus various tricks and touches(And being TF2 like is fantastic. This expectation was one of the reasons why I bought this game).
I am slightly disappointed, cuz this game looks more like Crysis 2(Still, awesome).
So I ask people to share their opinions to make me feel better and perhaps. Please, don’t say if you do not have anything productive to say.
No TF2 spy like ninja play?
i like the fact that engineers get a sword/ketana like demomens
so maye it will be more like 5f2 after all
Well, like it or not people with nothing ‘productive’ to say will still leave their opinion - as well they should.
But I think this will be more like this game called “enemy territory”, but mostly be uniquely its own. You should play the game first, before passing any judgement though. No amount of “this is exactly like that!” will make the game better or worse without first actually playing.
I don’t really see any comparison to Crysis 2, except that it’s in the future and it’s a FPS. I’ve never played TF2 so I can’t compare it to that. This is a game without a single-player lone wolf perspective, Crysis 2 has that. Crysis 2 doesn’t have parkour, even if it does have some pretty sick jumping abilities. I’m having a really hard time where you’re seeing this is close to Crysis 2, they’re on very opposite ends of the spectrum IMO.
Comparing Brink to TF2 makes the people here angry. But you say it looks like Crysis 2 which will make people very angry. Unfortunately I haven’t played TF2 so I can’t comment on that.
Did everyone get a different version of TF2 than I did? They look absolutely nothing alike o_O This is a general response to all the “it looks like TF2” remarks, I have no idea where the comparison is coming from… I think Stevie Wonder tweeted it and everyone’s just copying him.
I’ve come to the conclusion that most people think every class-based shooter is a “rip-off” of Team Fortress 2.
the graphics look very different from tf2, but “objective based gameplay” is very tf2 and brink. Both tf2 and brink have very little one hit kills. Both tf2 and brink have a good focus on special movement. Both tf2 and brink took a less serious/realistic approach to the art style. So i think its legitimate to say that brink does look like tf2. One of the main differences is although the art style and movement in brink is unrealistic, it looks like most of brink’s weapons comes from the realistic shooter genre (lots of pistols, smg’s, assault rifles, ect) while tf2’s aresenal was the classic unrealistic shooter aresenal (rocket launcher, grenade launcher, ect.). Another obvious difference is brink using ironsights and tf2 using crosshairs.
actually I understand why people compare this to TF2, the new generation of gamers don´t know games like ET etc the only game they know with classes, sentry guns, spys etc is TF2 and thats why.
Couldnt read OPs post until the end because my hand was covering my face…
Yep, sad but true
I don’t like TF2 at all - the visuals, the gameplay - nothing really. The fact that people think it’s somehow the genesis of class-based FPS is even more saddening for me. Also, the “team fortress wiki” is actually all about TF2, and even has a section on hats
No mention of the original (and awesome) TF itself. I know it’s old now - but it’s still very playable, and at least it didn’t have hats.
You see this problem with any Games Workshop games and Blizzard players too. Warhammer is allegedly a rip-off of Warcraft, and now Warhammer 40K is a rip-off of Starcraft. Absolutely criminal really - I guess we should forgive these younger players, but they really should learn some recent history before they make these ridiculous claims. Blizzard has cloned everything they’ve produced - just as GW (and many others) did from Tolkien.
There’s a major difference between cloning something and taking inspiration from. And Blizzard admitted they have no idea where they would be without Tolkien.
But, as always, history is written by the ones still standing so…
Well said Atavax.
Wether the guy is trolling or not, we should expect a lot of players with background in popular games like tf2 and black ops to start playing this game and eventually end up on the forums. Sooner or later this immature “anti-everything” mentality is washed away along with the unfriendly users that feed on trolling newcomers.
So I suggest we start a new big thread called - I hate BRINK because it’s not “enter random game here” - so there wouldn’t have to be a new thread every few days. :stroggtapir:

oh, and a big lol at the Crysis comparison. loved that one.
Finally someone gets it! Have some reputation sir! I really got sick of these Brink is TF3!11lol phrases.
What’s ridiculous is that with your dramatic claims to protect the truth of recent history you’re actually talking about games.
Young people may have a lot of things to be forgiven for (like trying to grow beards and looking silly), but not knowing the holy scriptures of gaming is hardly one of them.

Indeed, it wasn’t a dig at Blizzard - just a reflection on the feelings of (some of) their playerbase - mostly the younger players, I’d say. It’s the crap you see if you actually dare to visit the official WoW forums, for example. For anyone who’s never done that - best to keep it that way
However, to say Blizzard only “took inspiration” from Tolkien is a bit like saying Bin Laden “wasn’t that fond of the west”
Same goes for GW, too, and most other proponents of fantasy since Tolkien. So much was lifted with almost no changes, that I’m surprised they didn’t just take the names of lands and characters, and use those too. In some cases, they almost did
