No sound?

I currently (along with several others) have no sound - anyone have any clue as to why? I’m hearing reports from many people. I went ahead and dropped from Mumble to make sure that wasn’t it, still nothing. Anyone run into this and have a fix yet? Gonna continue my troubleshooting in the meantime…

I’m having the issue, too.

Are you using a USB sound device? I’m running a USB Soundblaster X-Fi, but I also have onboard sound (Realtek HD). I switched drivers and I get the same issue: no sounds from the game at all.

I have no sound and I’m using auxiliary chord speakers.

To those without sound: I’m assuming you all preloaded? I did as well, I wonder if there is a correlation there.

Same issue here, tried with onboard and external sound card, no dice. Waited all day for this, for no sound =(

This seems to work for most.

Steps:

Go into your Steam/steamapps/common/brink/directx
Run DXSETUP.EXE
Let it finish

Trying now…

I’m running a Creative X-Fi Sound Card and have no sound either. All other windows sounds (vent, winamp, etc etc) are working.

I tried swapping my sound device to the ATI sound card over HDMI and it did not help.

I’m running Win7 x64 with the latest drivers of everything. (formatted about a month ago).

I’ve deleted the game cache and am reinstalling now.

I restarted steam twice, now when I’m trying to start Brink, its saying installing a few things, fixed the sound issue. YAY

If you are missing audio, please restart Steam and play Brink again.

This will now install the required redistributables.

I also have no Sound. I’m using ALC 892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC for my 5.1 surround sound with logitech speakers. I also a use a creative arena headset which is getting nothing.

I pre-loaded 7 hours before release took 3 hours to pre-load, I would reinstall but don’t have the time I’ve got finals tomorrow. Was going to frag some guys on launch.

Now I can’t, I’m disappointed.

Several on my friends list pre-loaded and have working sound.

I rebooted my PC and now Brink is installing Direct X… it was already installed, but I won’t complain if it fixes the problem. Will report back.
