no players??? xbox 360

80% of the people I come across are fine so having them off by default makes no sense to me all for the 20% who are ignorant. Muting them is much easier than getting the 80% to figure the fireteams crap. Why is that hard to understand?

(SinDonor) #42

Why would I have a hard time understanding your opinion? You’re talking about VOIP in a video game, not rocket surgery. I would say that out of 16 people, if 3 or 4 of them are constantly talk trash, and I spend the time to mute each of them, only to have them leave and/or have new dbags join, that I have to repeat the process over and over all game long? No thanks.

If someone’s playing well on my team, then I’d rather spend the time sending them a fire team invite. Almost the same amount of button presses, if not less, and I still have the pleasure of not hearing the “20%” random dbags.

Here’s V1ck_db’s stats: http://xbox.brinkthegame.com/vick

17 kills, 32 min played

I’m just having fun vick, these are his real one’s: http://xbox.brinkthegame.com/v1ckdb

That scenario Wolf described did go down the way he said though. I have no idea about how well you played and to me that doesn’t matter I play with anybody regardless of skill, but you did only play one match (that was full) and quit. Back to my delusional alternate reality before Vick tells me to go there.

Ha LOL. Good one. You actually seem pretty cool I’ve read stuff from you where u actually criticize the game. Although we will have to agree to disagree on this voip crap.

Like you I like the game. I however don’t thnk its reasonable to expect people to do everything you do to play full games. I want more people to play and the easier we make that the more likely that can happen. Voip off by default is too much work for some people. Not everyone has time to play…afd friends for an unpopular game, create forums for a small group of players, schedule game nights just to get full games going , etc. It’s just too much. Millions just want to play without the crap. That’s a big part of why the community is so small.

No party matchmaking, voip off by default are 2 bad choices. You are an exception because you love the game. You are sold already. If we want more players…full rooms without the work, etc we need to expect better decisions in the online structure of the game and not just accept it because the die-hard fanboy would run through a building on fire to get a game going. Thats not for everyone.

…oh…I did lead in kills that game. Wolf tried saying I didn’t do well. He was lying. That’s all.

Yeah I’ve got no beef with you man. Everyone has their own likes/dislikes and ideas for what will make the game better. Having more people playing the game and playing together will only make it better for everyone.

In the grand scheme of things I admit turning on public VOIP isn’t going to affect me much due to being in a party all the time. So if they made that change I’d be cool with it despite prefering things the way they are now.

(V1cK_dB) #46

One more thing. We played 2. You guys switched hosts and I had to join a new one which was the aquarium game your talking about. The first match was against random people and many bots. I don’t like playing like that. The second game was full and I did very well leading in kills. And that was after not touching the game for a while…I actually didn’t really play it since then until the recent patch.

If you ever want to play Brink or anything else (BFBC2, L4D2, GoW2, MNC, S8, Trenched, w/e) again feel free to hit me up.

I have yet to hear an argument for VOIP off by default that makes sense. On another thread the majority of people posting for VOIP by default. What is so difficult about muting someone? I have played about 3 hours of full games tonight (I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!) and not ONE person has talked. NOT ONE!! I tried doing the fireteam CRAP and nobody joins …probably because they either don’t notice or don’t want to bother.

Sure…I can get friends to play right? Start a party. Etc. But why? I know I can do that and I sometimes do but the problem is that this system makes it cumbersome for those other players that are new to the game and might not try hard enough to figure it out before they quit. Not everyone is a Brink fanboy that knows the ins and outs of every aspect of the game. And they shouldn’t have to be to just use a simple feature like VOIP. Most other popular FPS MP games make it as easy as possible to use VOIP…except Brink because of some backwards philosophy that obviously hasn’t worked. The community is small…don’t force your minority opinion on the majority of people. How about we start compromising on the smallest of things like VOIP for the sake of the community? Huh Horse? It’s a turn off for most people. Maybe not you. But for most it is. Don’t you want as many people as possible to play the game and stick with it? I do.

You can post another absolutely lame link to a terrible youtube video if you want and try to be funny (you failed) but maybe this time you can counter my points.

(SockDog) #50

@V1cK_dB Some people can’t get passed their own opinion, applying logic and reason is pointless in these cases. There is no middle ground to be had because they feel their opinion of what is right supersedes even clear facts.

As for the wider subject. Like many things in Brink, the intention was pure but the execution was lacking.

(H0RSE) #51

First off, on the subject of public VOIP, there are just as many “facts” supporting it as there are against it.

And second, on the subject of public VOIP, my opinion is right - at least to me, and that’s all that matters, isn’t it? That’s why it’s my opinion. What do I care how others feel, if I don’t feel the same way, or have even the remotely same outlook on it? My opinion on this subject will always be how I feel, since I have disliked public voip ever since the first time I was introduced to it - Different strokes for different folks.

I have played about 3 hours of full games tonight (I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!) and not ONE person has talked. NOT ONE!!

Just the fact that it is enabled publicly is enough, regardless if anyone talks or not. It’s like riding a motorcycle without a helmet. You can do it 1,000 times without incident, but it only takes one mess up to ruin your day. Also, when talking about public voip on PC and console, they are 2 very separate beasts.

Oh, and another huge FPS (Bad Company 2) doesn’t allow public voip in games, only squad chat, and it’s worked out fine.

I do.

I really don’t care how many people stick with it. People are going to play it if they want to , regardless of flaws or options like this apparent VOIP fiasco. I will be playing it regardless, and if it was just me playing or just me and my friends or a small, tightly knit community, I would be cool with that.

(Duraigo) #52

I just joined brink on the 360…does that help?

(V1cK_dB) #53

^^^Yes it does help LOL…DON’T LEAVE!

Unlike Horse I do care whether more people play the game or not because I know that if the community is small today the lifespan of Brink will be short…and I don’t want that. The more players the longer the lifespan of the game. Simple as that.

So Horse your argument is basically you don’t care and it’s your opinion. My position is that it would ensure a longer lifespan of the Brink community because more people want Voip than don’t. Just to be clear.

(nephandys) #54

lol glad to have you. Send me an FR if you ever want to play.

(H0RSE) #55

But it wouldn’t necessarily ensure anything, regardless how many people want it. The only thing it would definitely ensure, is that you would be a little bit happier with the game.

A lot of people want a lot of different things to added/changed a bout Brink - some have laundry lists worth of complaints/suggestions. Somehow I think simply adding public VOIP, despite how much of this so called “demand” there is for it, wouldn’t change much, since I think that is near the bottom of the list of things people would like to see in the game.

I actually agree there are more important things. Party matchmaking for consoles and tightening the spread a little are 2 things I can think of right away. Don’t underestimate the “demand” for default VOIP though. I have 5 real life friends who bought Brink and all of them have asked me why you can’t “talk” in Brink. I work in a retail environment and this is one of the top questions about the game. Some people don’t even know if they are playing against bots or humans due to this. People just expect it. Brink isn’t a big enough name to change things up this drastically and force people to adjust. People will just give up.
