No Demo Recording = No Competition

(ZXY) #21

I got vac banned for using fraps.
use fraps, stop crying

i loled at you
lol.

New League Rule:
Everyone uploads their 50GB of RAW FRAPS footage at the end of every map or forfeit.

(stlava) #23

Until there is first person spec demo recording is somewhat pointless. Note I said somewhat.

(Ragoo) #24

Well yeah, gonna be hard to judge if someone uses aimbot from third person

(Wilson) #25

First person spec and demos would be awesome.

This is the best response to that. Using Fraps is the dumbest thing I’ve heard.

try compressing it to xvid, the reason fraps will not compress while recording is because it will kill some FPS

(Mattc0m) #28

lol.

New league rule:
Download FRAPS
Pay for legit version to get unlimited recording
Render 60GB of RAW footage
Spend a few hours running through xvid codex (remember these matches last many hours)
Upload 5GB of compressed video of every match to TWL

… This makes a lot more sense.

nope, go and nag fraps website and get them to add the drop list of install codecs, or uncompressed avi as default, there is no reason for fraps not to compress avis on the fly as most PCs can cope with alot of the games running at a higher FPS then average…

xvid is the best mpeg4 codecs and will take 6 mins to compress 20min vid to 320x240

if you dont know about codecs etc, you are probaly better off gettings some xvid settings that are better then default/divx/dvd

I suggest a webcam or a mobile phone just put it front of your screen.

drop the console and type clear
then listcmds
then condump cmds_dump

and paste the contents of the cmds_dump.txt and i will tell you the hidden cmds to record a demo, splash wouldnt have removed the code fully for no logical reason

i wont buy brink until its around £6 in amazon

(SpawnTDK) #33

i see, forgot about that, sorry.
think the whine thread overkill got me back then

(dommafia) #34

I think that no 1st person view is a direct result from not having a working record function. I’m willing to put my left pinky nail on the line and bet we’ll have 1st person when record demo is fixed.

They disabled the command for the moment, there’s a couple of bugs with it… playing a demo would cause a crash, and occasionally recording a demo would boost your char straight to level 20 with everything unlocked. It’ll be fixed at some point and enabled again.

And LOL@Fraps

Sounds like a feature for the competitive scene

(cptincognito) #37

If it’s true that the /record is not supported due to a ranking exploit, I’d just like to say that I don’t care if people hack/boost their way to level 20. I hit level 20 in my first sitting, it’s not a huge achievement, and it just means you have to play people that hit 20 naturally.

(DarkangelUK) #38

Well it’s not up to whether you care or not, it’s up to SD and they care.

(king_troll) #39

brink uses the same cmds as all other idtech4 games, drop the console and type them, or bind them to a key

recordNetDemo = start recording
stopNetDemo = stop recording
renderNetDemo = make a demo into a avi

(DarkangelUK) #40

Are you being a tard on purpose or are you genuinely not getting the fact that they’ve disabled those commands until the bugs are fixed?
