No bots in Quake Wars? Thats lame!

(BuldozerX) #1

No bots? No sell.

This stinks. Thanks to the world of broadband it seems alot of developers are getting lazy.

Bot-less games fade from view over time, because human players move on to other games, while a game that has bots can be played forever. So with these thoughts I wont by the game. It`s not fun to know. I want to pay money for games without “time-limits” like this.

Off-line gamers SHOULD be able to enjoy good games like this to!

Broadband or not, this is bad for good games.

(TFate) #2

Actually, I believe they said that there are no bots AT THIS TIME.

(Dingo19) #3

I would rather developers not waste their time on bots, just so the few who still don’t have braodband can feel included.

(MadMattUK) #4

FYI, there are a heck of a lot of places/countries that have limited BB or none whatsoever. Just because it may be plentiful in your country of residence, others are not so fortunate.

Perhaps the original poster could have put his point accross a little more politely, it’s not exactly easy making bots do objectives like plant dynamite for example.

FPS bots pretty much suck for all games except deathmatch, maybe basic CTF. I cant imagine serious numbers of people would buy a multiplayer-only game when they can only play with bots.

In a “singleplayer” anyway - they can be quite useful for making up the numbers in MP.

(BuldozerX) #6

I like bots in MP because I hate all the scripting in single player. Its fun to play the game off-line as well. To get a rest from all the whining, high ping and so…

(DarkangelUK) #7

Play on low ping servers and turn off chat text so you dont see the whining…

(Th0mas86) #8

Yeah, but still… Team killers, lame people, and so on… bot support is a must.

(Cerebrate) #9

I agree with you. I hope they put their time and efforts into honing the game further, instead of making damn bots! For people who can’t play online or whatever; buy single-player games! Clever, huh?

(Loffy) #10

I want to make a map where the players just frag onstorming bots.

(DarkangelUK) #11

You mean like a survivor type coop mod? The team defend a base while hoards of enemies storm the base and you try and defend it. There’s a mod like that for HL2, and i think there’s one for D3 as well. I think the HL2 one is called Tim Coop and the D3 is called The Last Stand.

(faltytower) #12

Let’s see…the game doesn’t come out until next year and you’re already complaining about no bot support?

GGs.

(Depth_Charge) #13

Whats the better way to change something?
Before the game is fully developed or after it is finished?
(I don’t agree about bot support though :nag: )

(Gabrobot) #14

Hmmm…do people really think UT2004 would’ve been as popular if it didn’t have bots? Obviously bots must have been a major reason because UT2007 is going to put a heavy emphasis on them. ET: QW looks awesome and I’d definitely get it if I could play it offline, but I’m not rich and I don’t like the idea of paying $50 for a game I can’t play. :frowning:

(DarkangelUK) #15

DM, TDM and CTF are easy to put bots into, kill the other player or grab the flag and kill the other player is about it. When you throw classes into the mix it’s whole new ballgame. I agree, i’d rather they spent more time on the game itself than wasting time making sure a bot knows when to revive someone, knows to build something or knows when to throw an arty strike. If you want bots that much you can mod them yourself when the game comes out… that’s what someone did for ET.

(SCDS_reyalP) #16

To me, the replay value of an SP game (bots or not) is far less than an online game against humans. One things bots are good for is giving users and introduction to the maps and weapons, but aside from that, online only sounds good to me.

If you want an SP game, it sounds like et:qw isn’t for you :moo:

(DG) #17

I suggested this a while ago for ET, got the impression that with support from author’s of existing work it shouldnt be too painful.

(Th0mas86) #18

Yes, the game is going to be out NEXT YEAR, but it will take some time to make decent AI. If the AI is like the one Battlefield 1942 has, I don`t want bots!

(.N.E.R.D.) #19

According to the QW community (especially vanilla players) there are MANY bots in qw …

That was well worth reviving a 7 year old thread for…
