No blood?

Is it just me, or when I play the demo I don’t see blood? Is there an option to turn it on?

thanks

Why so many ppl thinks that demo should have all the stuff that game has. If it had why would anybody buy the game, if the demo is the same as the game?

(kamikazee) #4

Ehr, that’s not quite correct sir.

Demos exist to let you judge the final game, so they should offer a complete overview of the game, although limited in nature. This means that blood would need to be included in the demo seeing how it exists in all maps, but extra maps wouldn’t.

Betas on the other hand can be incomplete. Those only exist to test a game, but not rate it.

Right. No blood in the game or in either of the public Betas. I noticed it briefly then got over it right away. A little blood/stroyent would be nice but ultimately unnecessary to the game.

The demo has some features that weren’t in Beta 2 by the way, so I’m assuming that it’s overall more “complete.” Small touches like sounds for the Strogg 5-4-3-2-1 countdown that were notably missing. The only notable features Demo is missing, are the friends list and persistent stats.

Oh I don’t know… how about things like “More than 1 map” for starters…

(kamikazee) #7

Oh com’on, right now you already got about 1/12th of the game for free!

RtCW for example initially only featured mp_beach. It was only after the “Trenchtoast” map release that they added a second map to the demo.

Heheh, I meant it in response as to why we would want to actually buy the game, even if we already are playing a demo with all things enabled (blood etc whatever SSF Sage was talking about).

But if you knew that already then apologies for misunderstanding

I guess I was wrong them, but same goes with beta I think. But back in 8-10 (?) years when I did play a lot of playstation, most of the demos had barely nothing the game had. Guns, maps, stuff… Basicly most demos had one little part of the map, with about 2 opposite bots and no extra effects the game had. While this has everything and 1 full map? What would make ppl not to be able to map for this game, then it would be a game itself. Or is there limitations for that? Other than editor right? As I understood there is no radiant for the game yet.

Note, I haven’t played the betas and demo. And will not play (I hope) the final game, because that would steal my heart. I wanna stick to et, and I afraid that If I give it a run, I would get stucked to it. And it would mean learning almost everything again! My apologies for SD. I promise if I some day get really enough of et and mapping etc. for ET, I will test it. And buy it if I enjoy it!

Edited.

Why do people register to post a single whine about a silly topic then never come back to backup their argument?

  1. Blood / gore is seriouly silly, aka fun.
  2. I guess he doesnt want to argument, but rather just ask if there is blood in final game.

(BlackEyez) #12

I can argument for him. I’m from the Unreal Tournament playerbase so I’m used to a lot of gore and… Yeah, I won’t describe too much in detailt :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, I was suprised that this game, with all it’s violence and twisted looks of the stroggs, not a single drip of blood is visible? not even when you shoot someone in close range with a shotgun? :?

Yea, blood isn’t neccessarly… but it adds to the atmosphere. And like someone mentioned earlier, it’s fun!

(Gringo) #13

There is shit loads of blood in the game. But the strogg have made it invisible because it makes them feel queasy. Thats what the war is all about, GDF want blood to be visible, strogg dont.

Heh, I don’t think anyone would complain about the game having blood. We’d all like to see some blood, maybe gibs. It just that some will complain about it needing gore and some that don’t care it’s missing.

This goes off on a tangent, but I’ve always found it really strange that they chose to name an energy/laser gun a “Lacerator.” I don’t imagine that orange stuff, which even kind of make a sizzle sound on hit, would rip and draw blood. (The old Star Wars argument about cauterizing wounds, etc.)

For anyone who doesn’t know what lacerate means, this is from my Stedman’s Medical Dictionary:

laceration - 1) a torn or jagged wound caused by blunt trauma; incorrectly applied to a cut. 2) the process or act of tearing the tissues
