Violator or Scrupus can take my spot, I’ll be more than happy spectating the matches instead, no kidding.
Nirvana Showdown thread
I’m prefering Euro’s in the TAW team. The reason being time and ping issues, but NA’s are welcome if they want to.
Depends on the settings. Some players prefer regular Vanilla Settings, whilst others don’t care what they are playing (me). What kind of limitations/restrictions where you thinking of?
Also I had quite some responses that 6 GMT isn’t convenient. 7 GMT is more feasible for most of the TAW’s
The main aim of this event is to showcase some of the maps in order to generate more awareness of custom maps and hopefully gain few more custom map players, with this in mind I think we shouldn’t go over board on restrictions and what not as this could deter people but as same time we want to try and balance certain things in order to make the event more interesting to watch for spectators, 4 AVTs and crap load of arty spam on an mcp map for example wouldn’t paint particularly good picture.
Yeah, with 8 players something like the “transports” mode on Nirvana server would be a good compromise - one of each deployable, restriction on heavy weapons and snipers. The rest more or less as normal.
Looking forward for this!
Update on map choices, Radar will be map choice for regulars, was still waiting on vote from Scrupus but with 6 votes out of 8 sadly his vote wouldn’t have changed the outcome.
However I think we need bit of discussion on which maps should be vote-able for the public vote which will be held once TAW pick their map.
So far from the folk on IRC there is:
Maridia
Canal
Andes
Commlink
Arcis
Free city
Thoughts anyone?
Once we have all 3 maps picked we could do with tv server testing with perhaps a special map pak with everything in it for the event?
Turn up for now:
TAW:
1 Dogstar
2 Lock
3 Outlavv
4 Stealthmist
5
6
7
8 Susefreak
Back-ups: OmeletDuFromage (will be 30 mins later, will replace me), Ceder
I’m ready to fight too…, :stroggbanana:

Yes agree - small pak for quick download from TV server, and full testing from a clean vanilla client to make sure it’s “human food friendly”
Sorry missed both IRC and the map vote, but it looks fine.
btw how about teamjungle for “warmup” map - very tv friendly
Why do restrictions if it’s 8 v 8? Should be no restrictions on deployables, weapons or vehicles, and that includes radar.
I will definitely try and make it.
btw, TAW is in the middle of switching our custom map pubs from 4 pro servers into 2 qwta “vanilla” servers w/ 8 campaigns a piece on them. There will be one NA and one EU.
we are also building NA and EU pro-pubs, dusk pubs, brace pubs, WoW pubs, flight pubs and of course true-TA pubs.
Response from the shoutcaster:
Wow, you’ve definitely got the grounds for an epic scrim, and I’m pretty familiar with the constant struggle to keep servers and events running, if not for ETQW specifically.
From the sound of it, you’ve got the ability to stream it yourself? Or are you looking to have me provide the streaming? Either way, I’m sure we can get this set up in time (and I really appreciate the forward notice) for the event, but I was wondering if either more towards 10-11 GMT would work out, or perhaps saturday? I’m on the west coast of the states, so time is always a discussion point with these things
But yeah, I’m definitely willing to help you guys make this happen and get some publicity out there, I for one have always felt that etqw deserved more attention than it got. Also, let me check with Greased and the rest of the qltv crew, since they all come from an ETQW background, and they may want to be a part of this.
I really want to join but I’ve been always connecting to Nirvana with 400+ ping…
For the reasons I put in my reply. Personally I think radar would be ok to stay, but 2 of each type of deployable is fair restriction.
Commlink is a very good map but IMHO it is indeed too small for 8x8. I guess you can safely remove it from teh votelist.
If i could publicvote for a 2nd map, I would have opted for Arcis, it never got a good chance of massive serious gametesting. Plus Scrupus deserves it.
@Nail, thx for teh Bloblink. Will try to contact him.
7pm on Sunday is best for the players as they mainly EU.

Warm up map on jungle is nice idea, others are ok with that? (Even though it may only last 5 mins)
So is the team name Nirvana. I just want to make sure anthony doest pick the name as his usually involve pen15 or other body parts.
nice pic Donnovan.
