Forget all Battlefield X games.
Night Missions?
Exactly. I for one am very interested in what will the SD come up with. Becouse I’m shure that they wouldn’t make these night missions just for show (unlike those in Battlefield). I think they are going to try and make something new and orginal, after all they tried to be on the level with the rest of the game with so much time and effort put into it.
So why would they bother with night missions if they wouldn’t be much diffrent from normal day maps and won’t bring anything new to the game?
BF2 night missions => bleh IMO. Mostly just one more annoying thing to manage.
OTOH, AVP had a pretty nice take on asymmetric teams in darkness.
Yeah, AvP is definetly uncontested in the use of darkness as a way of controling gameplay. If only SD would come up with something similar.
Here is a night map you can change the night to Day or what ever you want to doin the sky firework’s , rain it’s all in your totolcontrol and you dont need night vision glasses gee, and you dont even need a flash light lol . This pic is in Tribes 2 game this is a Heavy Jugernut .
Anything that makes the map too dark to easily spot your enemies is not arcade style gameplay and will only lead to the servers not having those maps on rotation imo.
Of course you could make nighttime maps totally in some active/passive goggles, but that would mean a complete set of different textures for them. And I dont think that look would be fun to play.
Im just pointing out that you can have night sky’s without being so dark out , and not worrie about useing night vision glasses and what not , I can put firework’s in the skybox and throw a event night and still kill and have fun at it.
Some nitpicking on my part (sorry, I know how annoying it can be =P) but “Infrared” is a whole spectrum of wavelengths of light. Yeah there’s the kind of infrared visualization that detects heat like what the Predator used, but that’s not what nightvision uses.
My understanding is that nightvision works by shining out infrared light then picking up what’s reflected back and amplifying it (signal “gain” is the term for it, at least in camcorders)… basically like normal light we see, except it can’t be seen with the naked eye and that it’s colorless (the green is added artificially because studies show that shades of green are the best differentiated out of all single colors, maybe having to do with evolving to live in jungles/woods). This also means that if some other guy with NV goggles is looking at you while you have NV goggles on, you will see the bright light coming off each others’ goggles.
End of science lesson, and I’m no expert by any means so correct me if I’m wrong. In any case, I think nightvision is unnecessary in most games and not generally represented well anyway. Night maps would be great for variety, but I agree with several posts on here to keep it bright enough to play “normally” without extra crap like NV.
