Next Round of DLC/Updates

(irishtiger36) #1

This post is aimed more at the awesome Dev team, and the community at large, but I am curious as to when the next big update/DLC pack is coming out and just what exactly we will be in for. I look at the map on the stats site and there is still SO MUCH of the Ark to explore and conquer. It’s fair to say that I am incredibly curious as to what will come next.

Personally, I hope the next update/patch/DLC will address some of the key issues brought up by fans, haters, and critics alike, such as the AI and maybe polishing the mechanics a bit. Not that I’m dissing on the game, but I think there is a lot of potential for Brink to make a comeback. With such a low price in stores now, a killer set of DLC and a patch/update would kill on the game market. Perhaps there could be a way to make the campaign a little more cinematic, kind of like what we saw in the promo videos at E3 or on the web, as opposed to watching a 30 second video that is cool but really leaves some gaps in the story.

As much as I don’t want to admit it, it is possible the team may have moved on to new projects. I hope that I am wrong in that prediction as there is still hope for Brink to become the “comeback kid” of 2011/2012. My fears are both comforted and exacerbated by the silence from the Devs…that means they are either hard at work on the next update or have abandoned ship. I for one am praying for the first scenario

What are your thoughts/hopes/aspirations for Brink? Do you, loyal Revolutionaries of the Resistance and devout Officers of the Security, believe the war is over or is there more coming in the Battle for the Ark?

I’d love more maps/abilities/patches, but SD has stopped talking about updates. They’ve surely moved on from Brink.

Its a wait and see approach from me. I’d definitely like and look forward to more stuff from Brink. I agree with everything that you posted.

Edit: its a shame if nothing else happens. There’s no other game quite like Brink. Other Games feel clunky without SMART.

Brink feels clunky WITH SMART.

(DarkangelUK) #5

For console it must be an innovation, for PC it was a bit clunky and cumbersome. It certainly did have it’s uses, but caused annoyances in other areas.

When dem updates coming!!!

(Codine) #7

People think this game is still going to get updates?

It would be nice if SD would work out of their own pockets like they did with Quake Wars but it’s never going to happen.

(wolfnemesis75) #8

Just hire an intern to throw us a couple maps, lol.

Lets say brink has 1000 people left who are playing this game. How many would buy the dlc?
Like 50%? How much should people pay for the dlc? 5 buck maximum or else the dlc would be more expansive than the game.
That’s a revenue of 2500 dollar. What kind of dlc can they make for that amount of money?

How much of that money will go to beth?
how much will go to steam?
how much will go to microsoft?
how much will go to sony?

and then they still need to pay developping cost. So maps are impossible, clothes as well because maybe 1% will pay 5 bucks for clothes ( revenue of 50 dollar).

and if they will release a map pack they will devide their invisible community.

Dem Updates are gone, history, kaput.

(INF3RN0) #12

Your sarcasm radar must be broke, ofc I know dat .

(tokamak) #13

Fixed that for you.

(Warden) #14

Bring those DLC’s.

(irishtiger36) #15

As I stated, I’m completely at terms with the devs not putting anything else out. I was simply keeping it positive, because when has being negative ever gotten anything positive done?

(wolfnemesis75) #16

This true. And I try to look at the glass half full rather than half empty. Final Fantasy XIII-2 can be released. Anything is possible! Sorry to those who don’t agree, but I’d like to see more Brink games.

(JackPipsam) #17

I would like them to make an ending to the story.

Hell I would even be happy with a free comic on the website. something, anything, I would like an ending.

(tokamak) #18

The cold fusion reactor melting down (sigh…) wasn’t an ending enough for you?

(zenstar) #19

That was just a “what if”.
For an ending just pretend that the ark crashes into some land and you wake up in Rage (or Fallout or whatever post apoc you like).

(gold163) #20

I’m just mad that we didn’t get to really explore the Ark. For all the potential there was for exciting desolated urban settings all we got was the industrial side of it. None of it really felt lived-in.
