Nexon and Extraction

(Niarviel) #1

No offense to Nexon, but they don’t exactly have a good track record, at least to me, for running good F2P FPS games. So I’ll cut right to the chase: Is there anyone who can tell me, or at least give me a general idea, as to how much Nexon controls about Extraction. Can Nexon say “Add in mercs that cost real world money, or 1 mil in game currency, that give more armor and extra money and xp gain.” thus making the game pseudo p2w.

(Nail) #2

at the moment control = 0

(Niarviel) #3

I’m just curious if Nexon has any say over what goes into the game, or if they are just managing the servers and putting out ads for the game. I don’t want to see another combat arms where I get +10 xp for a “nutshot” and have to spend 3 months saving up money to buy a merc that has increased armor, that everyone else with a big wallet can buy for like 5 bucks and have for a year.

From the slithers I’ve heard SD have control and will decide the prices of in game purchases so that should bode well if it’s accurate. Players who don’t have lots of spare time to play can keep up by buying what they want, instead of earning it through time played but the items will be just variations on similar powered weapons etc or at least that’s the theory. As always time will tell so it is just a case of waiting

I think nexons using Extraction to rebuild there rep they learned from combat arms I highly doubt they want to F up again

(acekiller345) #6

I heard from badman that SD has “complete creative control” over the game, so whatever they say goes with updates and paying for ingame stuff, no matter what nexon says.

(ColdBackHAND) #7

We’ll never know. I assume Nexon will be the puppet master if external sales miss projected income.

(acekiller345) #8

Heres that post that said SD would have complete creative control:

Nexon gives money to sd and sd decide how Nexon will earn money - it’s really weird business …
Most likely Nexon have same contract as destiny development have (dd have full “creative control” ), simply at the moment Nexon is not using there “paper force”

What? Splash Damage would have paid Nexon to run their services, not the other way around.

Nexon provide a service to Splash Damage for Extraction. Splash Damage hold full creative control over the game and use Nexon as consultants.

Normally a publisher will want to have a game published so they pay a studio to develop it. However, in this case, Splash Damage were already developing the game then approached publishers to publish it. As Nexon is also running a service for Splash Damage, it’s more than just a publisher deal.

Of course this is all speculation as I don’t know the specifics, but this is how it seems to be working.

Not from good intentions “published by warchest” was changed to “published by Nexon/DD” (if i remember correctly - warchest was presented like the way to prevent publishers evil intentions to spoil games)

funny variant:

sd sold db to dd and on received money they are saving “creative control” on other half of the world =))

SD and Nexon?! I think all of this is very simple: SD has their game - over which they have creativ control - published by and run on servers provided by Nexxon. Nexon will have their share of the “fame and honor” along with a good deal of the income.

This should be a win/win situation. SD as a pro in developing good objective based MP-Team-Shooters. Nexon with the infrastructure to “produce” the game as it deserves.

Sounds to positive?! Perhaps, but I “expect the best” (you have seen ‘Singles’ by the way) and keep hoping that this game will be great and give us a long time Clan-Game.

Best regards

Then another question is raised - what prevented sd to do the same with dd (now dd have full “creative control” and CIS is getting different game than nexon one)

thanks God vpn exists
