New Website Design! (Bugs here please)

(imported_admin) #1

We finally got the new website design up and running. Our thanks go to 2-Design for the graphics and Rudie for days and days of implementation work!

There will be a lot of bugs, quirks and refinements that need fixing in the next couple of days. Weā€™d really appreciate if youā€™d help us identify them by bringing them to our attention in this thread.

Thanks and we hope you all like the new design!

Paul/Locki.

need new buttons to go with the layout also logging in the final butotn is called setu ? guessing it should be setup

Awesome design, love it, but thereā€™s one little bugā€¦

The DOOM3 forum doesnā€™t show up

(chavo_one) #5

Not a bug, just a design comment. On the main index page, all of the text is white. With both the links and general text the same color, it can be pretty unsettling.

Congratulation for the new designā€¦looks good!
Orange and more realisticā€¦

On the top of the Main-Page is it wanted that under ā€œFeature Itemsā€ is no link behind the gamelogos?

Looks good. But the black left area can be reduced. It is 4 centimeters on my screen (1,6 inch). Maybe half would be enough. EDIT: Moving the content over to the left would perhaps force you to redraw the image at top (cutaway some fire) - however it has to be done. I definitely think the black area (1,6 inch) is too big.

SD forum is the best forum for ET.

I agree with Loffy, the whole forum seems shifted to the right as of now, and Iā€™m constantly finding myself checking if I need to scroll the screen to see all of the message or not.

(Sick Boy) #10

bug: after logging in it still says ā€˜log in to view personal messagesā€™ and ā€˜loginā€™ at the top menu, though I donā€™t need to re-login to view pms

:edit: nvm this seemed to be a cookie prob on my network

:edit2: nvm my first edit there is a cookie bug

(Fusen) #11

if you move it over the layout wotn fit with the top left image though

(lennyballa) #12

Onwnage!!
Looks great for me, only thing that is a little anoying is that in the forum thereā€™s a long black vertical ā€œstripeā€ at the left, looks a litte strange. For the rest, :drink:
Edit: Didnā€™t saw loffyā€™s messages, i mean the same :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the design. Howeverā€¦

At both work and home I refuse to use Internet Explorer because itā€™s frankly terrible and immensely outclassed by the competition :). I use the excellent Mozilla Firebird (version 0.7 at the moment) and unfortunately the SD news page gets a bit broken after the first couple of posts (picture below). :frowning:

(pgh) #14

Ah wellā€¦ *&%$ it. Made a post there about Suggestion and Bugsā€¦ one bug being it keeps randomly loggin me outā€¦ ofc, went to post itā€¦ it had logged me out instead and upon loging inā€¦ the post was wiped.

Got a few problems in Opera 7.23ā€¦

Canā€™t read the text on any of the buttons, itā€™s the same colour as the button. Weā€™ll soon see if I can correctly remember/guess which of the two buttons is submit

The site seems to want to be more than 1280 pixels wide, and in such a way that Opera doesnā€™t have a horizontal scroll bar on the window!

I tend to agree the image seeping down the left will be using a lot of screen space for folk running at lower resolutions too.

Also, I guess youā€™ve removed the tags that let Opera produce that useful quick navigation bar at the top of the page, which I really liked :frowning:

But it looks spiffy though, itā€™ll be cool once the kinks have been knocked out of it.

(MuffinMan) #16

my opera doesnā€™t redirect me after logging in, i just come up with a black screen - not much of a problem though, iā€™m logged inā€¦

I miss the ā€œwhoā€™s onlineā€ - line, either I donā€™t see it or itā€™s goneā€¦

what i really like is the quick reply, think every forum needs one.

(pgh) #17

Well, its no longer phpBB 2.x its now running PNphpBB2. Im guessing thats why some things are there and some things arent such as the Quick Reply and no more Whos Online?

Presuming its PNphp cos its more durable for the layout?

(MuffinMan) #18

it is, just look at the bottom - Powered by PNphpBB2 1.2 ƂĀ© 2003 PNphpBB Group

ok here we go:

(Iā€™m using opera 7.23 and looked at some pages in firebird 0.7 aswell)

the main site:

  1. the feature items are under each other instead of next to eachother in opera
  2. the mouseovers doesnā€™t really do anything except show the title (all browsers)
  3. the comments at the poll have some weird effects, the first few display properly, but then it goes completely haywire (opera & firebird)
  4. when I click on the link above the login bit I still see the ā€œFeature Items - mouseover for detailsā€ text. and the page still has a vertical scrollbar which it doesnā€™t really need on that page

The forum:

  1. each page that has a single post on them, and the post reply page loads the page twice.
  2. as loffy & others said. the black bar at the side is mildly distractingā€¦
  3. as reported earlier, the preview and submit buttons are completely white at the post reply page.
  4. most of the buttons have an ugly edge of pixels around themā€¦

Well these are the bugs I found at a glance, when I find more Iā€™ll report them
And if you want some screenshots, let me know

Ainā€™t crossbrowser html a nasty thing?

(MuffinMan) #20

ok my reply was too fastā€¦

with IE 6 I have to log in everytime i come back
