article:
and a new pic, enjoy
“those that do participate in the pre-order program for Quake Wars will be able to register their username in advance of the game’s launch (cuts down on those embarrassing moments when you walk into a chat lobby and have a extra character hanging from your otherwise perfectly crafted gamer handle)”
does this mean we can’t change nickname ???
Username usually isn’t the same as nickname, so my guess is that this is a publicity stunt to get pre-orders.
Then there’s:
“will also receive advanced strategies and gameplay tactics to have a little bit of an edge on those that have to learn the hard way.”
Which can also be read as:
“give us your money NOW, or you’ll get disadvantages in the game”
:moo:
pre-order sounds interesting, but in no way i’m making a pre-order and risk to get the game delayed and can’t play at the first weekend because eg the delivery service doesn’t deliver in time
No pre-order is so EA-isch. Its like getting the game fake. ET:QW should be bought the way its meant to be for a game like this. Chechk the SD site daily for it to be realesed. If teh day is tehre, get outside, get your bike and go to the stores. Get that box off teh shelf and pay. Go back home and open the box, insert the CD and click on install. When finished (meanwhile reading some stuf in the instruction manual). Start ET:QW and learn to play the game by just seeing what any button does
Is this offer US only, and what about Europe / Australia?
That is a cool picture btw, the fact that maps are so different in this game is a great thing.
nice pic but chicken burgers again. mmm unrealistic possibly in the future chickens would
have evolved into an ethnic minority with rights, like no eatin of us therein.
Schweet!
Im all over that preorder thing.
I like the look of the screenshot. Really cool looking.
The textures for the ground are really nice, nothing repeating from what I can see. I like the color of the other urban screen they had. Perhaps this is setable, or maybe they changed it around? Either way it looks good, and should be some very fast action in there.
Guess :bored:
Of course, I can’t know for 100% but well, it’s been US only -or- North America only eveytime.
ET:QW + Direct Download = WIN IMO
http://etqw.gamersnation.co.uk/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=610 and yes it is intentionally a bit silly
If this is Preorder/register you username is USA only Im gonna be very VERY annoyed.
just for completeness in case someone didn’t notice: “At the end of July, at select retailers,…” <= no quake wars in july
I personally hope Activision is not going the same “money-grabbing” way like EA with BF2.
Some of you might remember, when the people bought the Addon “Special Forces” they
were able to unlock uberweaps like the F2000 and could take those to the normal BF2
Servers. In other words: You could actually BUY weapons with an advantage against other
and normal playerweapons. I know at least 5 players personally who only bought SF to get
those weapons, after the unlocked them the never touched the Addon which was absolutely
crap btw.
Arcticle in german about the IGN report can be found here:

activision game release page said summer/fall. i know the trailer closes with “fall”, but one can at least have hopes
dunno…they have said they don’t give anything to players that will make the game unbalanced and have advantages over others…
Well I would not mind paying for good expansion pack for ET:QW, but problem with Expansion packs is the fact that they usually end up dividing the community. Special Forces for BF2 was crap.
As ID/Activision, I would just aim supporting ET:QW so much that the game itself would generate lots of money when more people buy the game to join the healthy game community. With support I mean similar free expansions UT2004 did get, more maps and features.
A “content pack” with user made maps, extra skins, mods, etc. is nice. EPIC games used to have regular community map packs, as well as official content updates.
1st point : BF2:SF is not crap
2nd point : the weapons did give an advantage, flashbang anyone?
On topic, i like the idea of being able to secure my user name and has anyone got an unmarked version of the screeny?
