ETQW, Brink & DB, would all be fine, with their visual styles and changes, if they just would include the stuff that made W:ET so fkcing fun.
They didnt.
If you say so, it’s about time to remove your avatar.

But that’s my point, they’re not making the game their fans are looking for, but they are pretending they are. I don’t mind that they’re not making the game I want, I don’t suffer from the same sense of entitlement so many people seem to have these days, I do however object to being told it’s the game I want when it isn’t.
It’s kinda obvious that they have to do it. Their old games are a good attraction and this time the game is even free. So no one can complain at least about paying for a wrong expectation.
No good publicity -> no interest -> no money
You think SD is pretending?
You might be right.
I hoped they were just confused / mismanaged / or other things.
Who are suffering from entitlement? You mean some people think they “deserve” something? Like a ET2 or similar?
“I do however object to being told it’s the game I want when it isn’t.”
Yeah. Many people including my self didnt like how SD claimed ETQW was like ET, when it wasnt.
SD AFAIK, got silently “kicked out” from ID and from bethesda. This might be their last shot as a company. But thats just my guess.
Has a short interview with Neil Alphonso in it

I’d like the Honest commentary of Neil Alphonso in this video ,really like when people have this kind of attitude .
Here what I understand from it… No lies ,here what it is… what we try to do and why ,Take it or leave it ,there’s other games for that (TDM).
But other Modes (including present ones) will really have not to feel like if your playing in an TDM disguised under an obj/sw mode …ect .
Yeah agreed. The response underneath the article is also a lot more level-headed.
“You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to rookie1 again.”
with class agnostic objects, healthregen. it is realy a TDM in a stopwatch mode. none other than that.
It was like that when DB had classes too.
DB could add ET’s classes and remove HP regen entirely, but without sorting the maps and spawning it’s still going to play out like TDM.
I have to be honest we’re not really pushing a ‘this is ET2’ direction, even if initially (several years ago now) that was our goal. A lot of the articles that are saying ‘ET fans get ready for this’ are the journalists themselves making connections back to the studio’s heritage, most likely because it’s a good way for them to easily explain the direction/feel of DB’s combat to those who have no idea what the game is.
Don’t get me wrong, we’re still aiming to make a game that is more in the mould of older style PC FPS games in terms of tempo, accurate weapons and so on, but as you point out Kendle DB is quite a different beast to ET. As we talk to the press more, and they spend more time with the game, I think they’ll come to better understand the differences. I think so far the PCGamer article did the best job of communicating the merging of old and new.
Compared to what’s currently out there there’s very little that comes closer to W:ET than Dirty Bomb does now. It’s just that our frame of reference is much more narrow as we’re not out there playing Destiny, Halo or COD.
Performance, spam, spray and pray, zero teamwork, bad objectives (Really… Lets stand in a square? REALLY!), client side hits, client side everything, animation, TTK, hit detection, spawn times and non region game play…
FIX THE GAME!!
Getting little dramatic : P
Many of the issues you describe can be fixed with the same brush: going back to ET teamplay (so yes, class-based objective; only engies defuse please, trying to keep the engy alive through the thick and thin, battle your way to the dynamite and defuse it couple sec before it blows, you won’t be able to create those moments if you flatten the diversity between mercs)
the only thing i liked about this video, was the guy sitting in the middle of the table.
