Fast Paced Objective Based Game???
The action in-game looks so fake haha, no one can stand in front of two guys and survive the time it takes for an aistrike to kill them. Other than than it’s really well done, cool footage and beer drinking.
I think it will help reassure the masses while giving them a bit of meat to chew on.
Tosspot selling out.
He asked no good questions.
PR events like this, is just a part of a regual hype train to lure people in / get attention.
The money should be used to make something, people want to play instead.
Media companies dont review products. They tell the general feaures to 99% and then give a vague 1% opinion
It doesnt matter how much hype / PR money SD pumps into DB
What matters is if people who try the game, actually still play it after 1-4 weeks.
Its not a 1-time buy, since its F2P, which is based on playing 4ever due to addictive gameplay, and if game isnt addictive, you cant sell skins or whatever to customers. Doomed economy.
Im seeing / predicting a future crash here.
I suggest SD if not already done it, hire very talanted W:ET & RTCW mappers, so this game has a future.
I know best? No? But I cant help feeling SD is in need of help.
TL ; DR
Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave.
(crash comes later)
A media companies role is to be a service to its audience.
But since its very rare that actually happends, media sites are almost always just channels to promote your products through.
Media / PR is dead since long, but the economy still works (so far anyway).
The real PR lives in word-to-mouth, where friends only trust friends recommendations, since the media world is far too currupt, to actually serve its intended audience.
So, tosspott shoud have asked questions to help players make up their minds if they wanna invest time or money into this game.
He did not.
There is lots of hard questions for SD about DB.
Many which arent answered here in beta forums.
Many of the questions arent possible to answer either, since SD still dont know solutions for things like, lets say MAPS! Or teamplay.
PR is not about the game, its about the image of the game and its developer.
Im not saying SD is the only ones doing PR.
Im just saying a F2P game is a service. Not a 1-time deal, where angry customers have already bought the game.
Oh I agree and the media/entertainment side of journalism is absolutely terrible.
But still, it helps if you provide what questions you would want to see being addressed.
I got 2 things from that vid :
-
They acknowledged ET’s success was almost entirely down to content they didn’t make (community mods and maps) yet they’ve never confirmed either will feature in DB in any way shape or form.
-
They used the word “team” several times but neglected to mention they’ve taken several positive steps to make teamwork un-necessary (agnostic objectives, health regen, ammo racks etc.)
What with the recent blog, so many people will be expecting the spiritual successor to ET, so many will be disappointed.
They said that ET’s success was down that players could do that they can’t do now.

Yeah.
W:ET community know W:ET better than SD.
Are you a SD guy in disguise? ENEMY IN THE SKIES! No seriously. Its like asking what color is the sky. You cant be serious.
Edit but to help you really quick.
The one single question SD needs to answer:
#1 “Is it a good game this time or another ***up”
#2 Also of course “Will W:ET lovers like it? Will they love it”.
To the actuall specifics on what makes a game good, or what makes W:ET players love a new SD game, would take many hours.
Im frustrated by your question. It also makes me uncomfortable. We are from different worlds it seems.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care what game they make, when they were developing Brink I said they should concentrate on making the game they want and sod the “community”, and I’ve mentioned before I think the people who are currently “testing” the game are the wrong people anyway. If I were on the board at SD I’d shut the beta and go offline for 6 - 12 months, make they game I wanted, stick with my principles and let everyone in when it’s done.
However, to trade on (other people’s) past glories and market it as cut from the same cloth as ET is to mis-represent the game. I think that’s wrong.
Yup, I believe you. If you were SD and do like you said Brink 2 would come out. Exactly the game what their fans are looking for.
I’d say its impossible to work for SD since:
Their boss say 1 thing: He has a vision for game XYZ.
The companies actual playerbase / customers, want something else than their boss.
Cant please customers and boss at the same time.
Brainplosion.
ETQW, Brink & DB, would all be fine, with their visual styles and changes, if they just would include the stuff that made W:ET so fkcing fun.
They didnt. FFS. When will SD learn, & when will this strategy be their final nail in their coffin.
When or I should say “IF”, DB would tank / fail again, as a new game from SD. How the f c k will W:ET players think about SD?
