Hi m8

Windows or Linux/FreeBSD?

http://www.rtcw.jolt.co.uk/content/enemy_territory/server_guide/index.html
http://tjw.org/etded/ <-- very good for setting up a secure ET server on linux.

we are using windows xp pro , we got some advice on both operating systems, but, we stayed with xp(no prob …right? :banghead: )

I do hope we’re not talking about a dedicated/co-located server, but we’re talking about a system installed at someone’s home right?

However Windows XP won’t cause a problem for running a ET server.

a system installed at someone’s home wouldnt really be a ‘proper’ server though would it

XP will be fine. Maybe not the most efficient choice but will be fine.

we have an at home full dedicated e.t. server running xp pro ,do we need a start up command line ,if so where is it placed ,OR do we keep firing up the game through the in game menu? Also is there a fool-proof way of writing a server.cfg file to keep from losing our settings and in what location would this file be installed ?(same question for map rotate .cfg.Were trying to make a duel use e.t. pro clan server with a public config and a clan war config , are we taking on too much , were a little new to this and any help would be great …cheers :drink:

the Advanced Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Server Setup Guide as posted above should (hopefully) suit you perfectly, in particular the ETPro Server Guide which is more or less a tutorial sub-titled “For A Dual-Use Clanserver”
