shotgun for medic better not be final. If medics do get weapon options, then another trade-off for self heal better be for that class. IMO, weapons options is a benefit. Having one option isn’t. I wonder what sucks about the medic if he gets choices of weapons. He can heal self, call in supplies, revive people?
Sounds like the perfect class to me.
If he only had one weapon option, then the bad thing about medics is that he is only has one weapon choice.

medic was overpowered in bf2. unless medics assault rifle is somehow inferior to the other classes i see them as being overpowered here too.

I was going to post how I learned more about BF then I have from any other sources, and how I got the feeling that the author didn’t really “get” ET but this effing thread is waay off the course…
It seems that the reviewer’s proudest moment was that he got the number one slot in a map he was spawnkilling. WTF? Did he miss the whole “teamplay” aspect. Yes, there are always assholes that spawncamp, or on the maps where that is allowed, I don’t have a problem with it, there’s always an alternate route, but for a reviewer to bring that out at the very beginning of the prerview, and then to draw comparisons to BF for the rest of the article seems amateurish.
I hope to god (FSM) that the shottie isn’t nerfed, like in all other games but the almighty DooM. Goodness, remember ripping through 2 imps with a single blast of a super shotty? Those were the days.

No, shotgun isn’t going to be nerfed, I’m saying that the shottie only be nerfed, or not exist for medics.
Weapon choices are an addition, or benefit. Just think of the reason why Soldier in RTCW has no extra tools? Because he has the ability to pick from many weapons.
Medic already has too many additions. Unless the RTCW medic had something the ETQW medic didn’t.

If the medic gets a shotgun, so what. This only means they’ll have to play close quarters combat to be effective and if WET was any indication, the SMG is way more effective anyway.
It had been said that the days of rambo medics are over in QW, and I really would think that the devs are taking all the time they need to make sure this game is as balanced as possible.
I’m only going by what I read on the “Official Enemy Territory:Quake Wars” site but there it says engi gets only shotgun and mines, medic gets assault rifle and can call in supply drops. It seems to me I read the med can’t self heal except from supply drops
i have to agree here. I cant see any sensible reason you give to stop medics using a shotgun, if it impacted game play in a negative way then i would 100% agree but taking away weapon choices just because the player is a medic seems silly
Then why oh why have you been arguing about it for the last 3 pages? We all know it was prolly a mistake and that he didn’t ment for medics to have shotguns so pls, pls, Please stop.
What I actualy wanted to say was: it is interesting how that guy wrote that it seems to take a long time to learn how to play all classes and understand all maps. Personaly I am very pleased to hear that. If I liked anything about ET then it certanly was exploring and learning the abundance of tactics avaliable to each class in general and many more specific class tactics that varied from map to map. In my mind ET was unmatched in this field. So I really look foward to discovering all of these tactics, one by one, and trying them all out on every map with every side.
