I wish there was a “both” option  I’ll miss the Insightful / Like / Agree / Disagree / LOL options (even though there is still a Like option here)

Also, it’s a bit more difficult to see which thread have new unread messages on first see.

But the direct preview is nice, and the online updating is cool (you can see when someone is typing a reply and thread is updating live without having to refresh page).

Some of you might not like the new forums, but I remember when Gearbox (maybe the first bigger Discourse user?) started using this forum system and 50% of people hated it. After they fixed some issues, moved some stuff around, almost everyone started to like new forums after few weeks

Since this is a thorough overhaul and not just a few alterations to the previous design it’s going to take some time to get used to, however the sheer amount of features and quality of life improvements is astonishing and something I don’t want to miss out on.

What would be more helpful would be if you could provide us with constructive feedback on what it is about the forum that is pushing you to select “Old”.

Give us the opportunity to help you change your mind.

No dislike feature no sigs ebless im missing it
Page Loads significantly slower compared to old forums
Dont like color scheme
The main page has db and other games mixed in the feed
And i prefered the old layout better.

I dont like change.

For me personally I miss the ability to have multiple methods of response to posts such as being able to “like, disagree, agree, lol,” etc to each individual post. Now it’s just “liking” a post with no other options to respond with. Although, I haven’t used this new forum enough to really be able to tell any issues. So far it’s a genuinely awesome improvement. Especially on mobile. Dang, it’s so much better now for mobile.

Also agree with @Mc1412013, I miss my signature. :sob:

(bgyoshi) #11

I’ll make a choice once I get a few days to actually use the forum and get used to it, damn lol

(Mc1412013) #12

Oh and i cant see my rep any more and howmany likes dislikes lol all those things i was trying to get 3k rep points by summer just a fun little goal i made for my self on the forums

(bgyoshi) #14

Your rep is GOOOOOONE

(Eox) #15

Old forums were dogshit moderation wise. I’m really glad we dumped vanilla for that kind of forum. They’re much more enjoyable to use and makes all the moderation stuff much easier. :slightly_smiling_face:

The only thing I am quite displeased about is that new system where each threads is shown into a timeline rather than page by page. It’s not possible to change it, so hopefully I’ll get used to it.

(Boory Marks) #16

There are definitely some things I like about the new forums, like the look. However, I miss having sigs and most of all the activity page where I can go to see all the s***posts people have posted on their wall. (also rep points, I guess)

If you dislike someone’s idea or opinion, you should be encouraged to step forward and criticise their idea (and not their character). They should also have the opportunity to defend that idea.

There’s nothing to stop us from bringing this back as a feature, but what purpose do signatures serve? My experience from managing forums tells me they make conversations harder to read and can become a headache for moderators.

These forums are hosted in a physically different location vs the Dirty Bomb forums. If you’re in the US, you may just be experiencing a slightly higher trip time to load the forums, as these forums are hosted inside the EU.

Ah, change. Can’t fix that one, sorry!

The “reactions” feature is something that we weren’t able to migrate. I’m not that keen on certain reaction or reputation systems, because they encourage people to be lazy (why participate when you can just click a button and hide away?) and they can make it possible to game or abuse them to “farm” reputation or socially manipulate people.

As for being able to convey that you disagree with something (or if it made you LOL), you can always respond with your feelings and ideas. A bit like what I’m doing now!

Really happy to hear that you’re enjoying it otherwise!

I’m continuing to feed all of this back to the others, but do keep it coming!

(x3onn) #19

Do these forums replace both Warchest and forums.dirtybomb.com?

#20
