=O played on it byself at 3:30am and was very fun lol will be betetr when more are there was doing kick ups and stuff lol =P also not sure if your meant to be able to do this but if you prime a grenade then take the ball you can keep the grenade primed in your hand till you want to chuck it then it has a 4 second timer

also maybe make the ball look like this its more like the ball the soldiers would have used in ww2 except that one is just a dirty old, new football the older ones were that colour but dont think they had so many sections and they were made out of cow fat or something lol maybe pig fat

Was playing there a bit earlier myself with a couple of clan members, was a lot of fun. Thanks for that info about the grenade prime, but since I changed the code to use the fire button what will happen is that you’ll throw away the ball as soon as you pick it up and continue to prime the grenade.

Wow thanks for that ball picture, it gaved me lots of ideas!

But there’s a reason for the strange look of the ball as it is now, it’s doesn’t rotate when it’s bouncing around and adding a high detailed skin will probably look strange. Also my skinning/uw mapping skills on spheres are very limited. But I’ll see what I can do. :slight_smile:

Played yesterday on the american server. But only 1 on 1.
Hopefully there will be more players.

On 3dcafe.com’s free stuff I’ve found two models of footballs/soccer balls.
Football (DXF 60kB)
Soccer (3DS 120kB)

Can not view the models at the moment.

IF I go for something more realistical I will still primarly aim for visibility, I don’t want a ball that takes forever to spot.

A radar would be nice, pointing to the ball and when you have the ball, to the appropriate goal (BR has that ;)).
BTW, your ball reminds me a lot of the Q3 mod Proball (appearance, physics and sound), do you know that mod? It was lots of fun and the main difference to your mod was, that it has no weapons (only the gauntlet meelee weapon to “tackle” a player). A bit like Deathball. I always thought that this kind of game (first person ballgame without ranged weapons) had a lot of potential, but Proball and Deathball both lacked possibilities for a single player to make a difference, so it gets a little bit dull after a while IMO. Also tackling in Proball seemed to be too much about the ping without any possibilities to make up for it with skill. I’m just rambling here, because you probably aren’t interested in this different kind of gameplay anyway. :slight_smile:

Can’t one file need to be inside the pk3 and that’s the client game dll/so (ui and server dll don’t work inside the pk3, need to be outside). If I do two pk3’s one for each system I break the pure rules , so a linux server can only have linux clients and windows server only windows clients.[/quote]

Exactly… the client-side .pk3 should have the .so’s and the .dll’s…
they aren’t that big and the one not needed is simply ignored.

also on the current pb_arena map you can chuck the ball on top of the little bunker at the sides of each map which is guarded by barbed wire and it gets stuck there , then you have to reset match

Maybe you can make it so that if nobody touches the ball in like 40 seconds it goes back to the original spot.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

About throwing the ball up on one of the bunkers, I forgot to incukde clip missile on one of them (was just clip), will fix. Also, I’ll probably do a timeout and return the ball after that too, just like in ctf as a protection against things like that as bacon suggested.

Yup, sounds like a nice idea, will do.

Yeah will see what I do with the ball, there’s a lot of posibilities, but not decided yet.
