[New Map Project]Hirntown

Hmm, i like to call that the “Rotation Bug” :stuck_out_tongue: Usualy if u try to rotate it this will happen, you can try to re-rotate, wich sometimes does the trick, or try converting to ase like IndyJones suggsested.

Cant wait to see the picture

(Igloo) #22

It’s really dark lol! Or just the screenshots.

(Miki) #23

What is converting it to ASE? Never heard of it

Can you give me a link to a tutorial.

About the ‘darkness’, for some reason, the screenshots are really dark. Ingame, its not that dark…

(IndyJones) #24

it’s very simple.
put what u want to be converted in the middle of new map (0 0 coords), then make a bigger box (like skybox), hollow it and set texture to HULL CAULK. after this step, compile .map to bsp and then use -convert ASE command.

(Miki) #25

Sorry, but I don’t understand :S ? If you do that, you got a BSP. What are you with a bsp :S

I’ll just try to redraw the brushes

(IndyJones) #26

send me the crane in .map, i’ll do it for u

(Wezelkrozum) #27

I think there are double brushes. Cause when sides overlap each other the compiler will not draw them

(Miki) #28

Well I don’t think that’s a good idea. Perhaps I have the same problem in 2 weeks, and if you are not around on the forums, what do I do then?

I don’t think so, cause the other sides were drawn.

I have deleted the crane and I’m currently rebuilding it…

(Wezelkrozum) #29

Wait. if you delete the crane and then compile it and test it. Do you see nothing or brushes?
Because i’ve had once brushes weren’t drawn in radiant but they were in-game visible.

If the crane would have gotten converted to ASE type, there would have been no more problems with it

deleting the crane was not the wizest thing to do, becauze i get that invisible stuff realy often when rotating, best thing is to use arbitrary rotation to rotate, and not to use Rotate ®.

(IndyJones) #31

arbitrary rotate works only if you are not going to touch (even select!) that brush anymore. i really recommend to convert that crane to .ASE.

Yes, but I can have that problem later, with EG a part of a house, instead of the crane, then I would have send the map over again? Is there any tut on how to convert to ASE?

I only use arbitary rotation. (Unless for trees)

I have just rebuilded the whole thing, and still the same problem. I have send the crane to indy jones, hope he can ‘fix’ it. . .

(Wezelkrozum) #33

Make a script_mover of the crane. Select solid and rotate it with a script.

(IndyJones) #34

when i try to move that crane, my gtk 1.4 crashes… lol :stuck_out_tongue:
in 1.5 it’s all right, but after converting it to ASE i have same problem as you.
i’d recommend redoing that crane, and first of all - use CAULK texture. u didn’t use caulk at all. also, you have copied brushes that could be just resized.

(Miki) #35

The crane map that I have send to you, is already a remake.

I’ll try it again, since the crane has a pretty crucial role in the map. i’ll use caulk this time, and i seriously hope that it will work this time…

(Pegazus) #36

Or you could model that crane

(IndyJones) #37

it’s just one hour of rebrushing it.

(Miki) #38

It STILL does not work, from the second i turn it, it ‘freaks’ out; and doesn’t work.

I have re-builded the crane, with all the needed caulk and so forth, but still doesn’t work.

Here is the map file:

http://annihilation.hellcoam.com/crane.zip

There you can download it and try it. (on that map it isn’t turned yet. The top part should be turned to 60 degree (i don’t care if its 55 or 65)

Perhaps this works, IndyJones if you convert to ASE and then ‘turn’ the model… (so i you could REDO it to ase and try :D) thx

(IndyJones) #39

i just opened this crane and tried to move it… no luck. my gtk crashes:
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7397&highlight=black_foreground

anyway, i will do it under 1.5. i’ll let u know within 10 minutes.

(IndyJones) #40

ok, everything works except that ‘wheel’ where brushes are overlapping.
