The list you keep posting is dominated by games that are 2 years old or more. I’d say newer games in general are slow to adopt on this platform. My only advice is that you should worry less about the numbers, and more about playing the game. Other people will play overtime, if the list is any indication, which it looks like it.
its one day. millions of random numbers like this happen every day.
actually about 40 of my friends weren’t on yesterday either.
wonder what was going on. it’s summer here and im not surprised.
that makes no difference, he was just saying it takes a while for PC games to pick up and im sure wolf knows what server tables are.
^^^^ meas nothing
oh well someone will obviously quote us im not worried youll see what i said.

No, such things are incredibly rare to happen. Have you heard about Law of Big Numbers ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_large_numbers
(…) a theorem that describes the result of performing the same experiment a large number of times. According to the law, the average of the results obtained from a large number of trials should be close to the expected value, and will tend to become closer as more trials are performed.
(…)
For example, a fair coin toss is a Bernoulli trial. When a fair coin is flipped once, the theoretical probability that the outcome will be heads is equal to 1/2. Therefore, according to the law of large numbers, the proportion of heads in a “large” number of coin flips “should be” roughly 1/2. In particular, the proportion of heads after n flips will almost surely converge to 1/2 as n approaches infinity.
Brink has as many players as Counterstrike: Source beta. Embarrasing ?

No. This isn’t a mainstream title. It is a teamwork oriented game, and most like simpler run and gun gameplay.
I find nothing embarassing about a game not catering to the lowest denominator.

Well said. Also, the list he keeps posting clearly indicates that most players on PC are slow to adopt newer games. Like, look where borderlands is on the list compared to Counter Strike which has been out for quite a while. I’d advocate for patience and perseverance. It takes a while to grow a community with a new IP in general regardless of platform. Mass Effect sold well, but Mass Effect 2 sold better, and Mass Effect 3 will sell even better. It comes down to name recognition and a following.

the law of big numbers generally is talking about numbers you cant put into a calculator, like oh say 1.0 x 10*40,000,000
and sadly yes i have head of it, it really is in reference to relative numbers.
simply put if oh say 200 people all don’t play for a day, then they come back tomorrow, it just proves there is an inconsistency in numbers, mind you a HUGE amount of my friends weren’t on yesterday either, it was a nice friday night to go out to party.

Don’t think this flies really. Counter-Strike is one of the most played PC games ever and is not an easy game by FAR. The skill required in CS is on a completely different level to COD and other mainstream games.
The community is not growing, it’s shrinking, rapidly. I’ve not seen, heard or read anything that leads me to believe anything is going to happen to reverse that trend.
many games people go on vacation for a week or maybe a month right, some go out for a couple of days, so on, i think yesterday was one of those days.
juat dont be suprised if a hundred or so come back out of nowhere.
LOL so many hate for the truth?

brink is not that bad game as some people here
… toxic, oft-unfriendly, mean-spirited, and bitter community chases peeps away. could be some of it.
I think it’s more that people realise how conflicted and contradicting some of this game’s design decisions are.
It’s not really possible to be un-friendly on server, for the same reasons it’s not possible to be friendly, no VOIP / chat etc.
Being un-friendly on forums chases people away from forums (if they’re that weak-willed), it doesn’t stop them playing the game if they enjoy it.
You’re clutching at straws Wolf, people are leaving cos the game isn’t finished, and they’re leaving in droves on the PC cos it’s not a PC game.
there was a huge PC update that went down the other day. give it time is all I can say. man, not sure what to say. it may be too late for some. or most. i don’t know. unfortunate, the game is fun as heck.

one, it was made for pc then ported, just because it has a new scheme then you have ever seen doesn’t make it a “port” (trust me on this people on 360 het mad because they put PC AI in here and they aim fast as all hell, they move as fast and aim as easy if you had a mouse in your hands)
VOIP all you do is make a fireteam its not that hard, people are just too dumb or lazy to figure it out/press click click create fireteam.
