New Graphic Card x1600 pro from ati

(TheFragger) #1

Hey guys,

I have been searching for a thread about the new ati series x1000 but unfortunately
i was not able to find one. Perhaps you could redirect me to one if it has already been discussed, if not please listen to my problem and try to help me:

Before i wanted to upgrade my graphic card i used a radeon9200se and et was running
fine with 43 or 85 fps per second but as soon as i bought a new graphic card (ati x1600 pro 512mb) i experienced fps ups and ties but the most time i am not able to play the game
because of 20-25 fps. Drivers need to be updated because the new series wont work with the old catalyst drivers.

Thanks in advance

cya

Completely uninstall all previous drivers.

Go to www.ati.com and download newest Catalyst drivers. Install, test, then get back to us.

i installed the newest 6.7 drivers after installing all the required components like frameworks and the windows genuin validation key pluugin + update. But nothing has changed,
i am still not able to play this game

x1600 512MB ? what are your other system specifications ?

  1. uninstall ALL display drivers
  2. restart computer (windows will apply a display driver)
  3. install your new display driver.

Did you install your chipset drivers? Do you have good fps in other games?

thefragger, i also have the ati x1600 pro 512mb videacard
(specs)
768 ram
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
And inside buildings i can easely get 100 fps but when i go outside it drops to a 25-35 fps. :bored:
(this makes it very hard to play fueldump, railgun,…)
But i guess my CPU is just to old…

just an idea which you can quickly test: did you try a clean install of ET in a different folder? maybe there are some settings of your old graca in your config files which conflict with your new one?

I have reinstalled windows several times since i experienced problems with et, so
the configuration is definetley not the problem.

Of course i installed my chipset drivers after your first post, i get around 40-60 fps
in HalfLife Deathmatch with 8xAnisotropic and 16 Anti Alising after the most recent catalyst drivers

Looks like i found another solution to the problem, i tried some commands
and voula i got a decent fps rate, here are the commands>

/cg_errordecay 999
/r_lodcurveerror 9999
/r_ext_texture_filter_anisotropic 1

ps: The last command is not needed but recommended to use in my opinion
