New footage

Knowing when to use which requires even more.

i don’t think that’s rim lighting. The enemy highlighted has something to do with an objective maybe?
Isn’t the objective highlighting yellow?

If you can really see enemies trough walls and stuff… WWRRRWWWAARRAAGEEEEE… I would have to agree with tokamak, noooo

(Whydmer) #43

There was quite a bit of blue rim-lighting of allies, not too much lighting of enemies even when they were at a distance.

Awesome footage and screwy sound. I think I am even more excited to try this game for myself.

Question for SD:

Can a player disable that low pass filtering of sound when taking damage?

Thanks :magicpony:

(Linsolv) #45

I can’t think, off the top of my head, of any gun we didn’t see in this video. Maybe… maybe the Rokstedi AR?
No offense intended but the editing is kind of awful. :frowning:

I do like the footage though! Can someone who is better at keeping up with the weapons in this game tell me what weapon that is at around 1:39? It looks like an assault rifle but seems to be rather slow and powerful.
thats the drognov light rifle

Probably not. It’s the disadvantage of getting damaged.
Other games have red jam on the screen, everything going black & white etc…

I hope not. You’re supposed receive less information while being incapacitated.

(trigg3r) #49

yes, the rim lighting doesn’t look that bad (i’ll still turn it off probably), which was expected since the last time we saw the rim lighting, it was from some crappy quality footage from PAX east which were recorded with a phone.

(DouglasDanger) #50

We didn’t see all of the pistols, the second shotgun, the rockstedi or the unknown m4-looking rifle or the ChainSAW.

Fishbus, an SD guy who posts at SomethingAwful, says the footage in this video is up to date.

I think it’s pretty ****ing annoying in an multiplayer shooter and I don’t see a reason why losing health isn’t enough of a punishment for being hit.

(Coolaguy) #52

Best footage so far, IMO. It was nice to just see some people playing the game, without any annoying commentary or instructions like, “Jolly, why don’t you go buff that guy’s gun. Wow, isn’t that great!? Jolly helped someone, so that’s going to make his teammate want to help Jolly.” etc.

It would be nice to see more footage of this caliber and maybe even just a full match of gameplay rather than relying on the use of captions or splicing together brief video clips.

(Humate) #53

Yes, I’m trying to figure out whether its there for immersion or actual gameplay. Im guessing the latter.
If its there for immersion, it had the opposite effect for me personally.

Probably not. It’s the disadvantage of getting damaged.

Yes, and those games dont have a health bar

edit:

“Jolly, why don’t you go buff that guy’s gun. Wow, isn’t that great!? Jolly helped someone, so that’s going to make his teammate want to help Jolly.” etc.

ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

(tokamak) #54

It rewards the guy who got the jump on someone. If you hate it, then simply don’t get hit.

You already get rewarded by having the time to HS, unopposed.

(Ragoo) #56

Thanks for your brilliant advice once again. Don’t get hit. Damn, it’s so obvious!

But you are kinda right: I want to get shot less now, which means I will move more slowly and camp more. You gotta replace one-shots with something to make it slow and campy right?

(tokamak) #57

Indeed. Less morons running around thinking they’re rambo and more players thinking about where they step.

(madness) #58

to me…it sounds like a buggy game. like some sound effects are missing from the game.

really don’t see why a game developer would do this to their game.

Grenades explode… it makes your character deaf.
Makes sense to me.
Instead of grenades being incredibly lethal they just give you a tactical disadvantage liike knocking you over and making you deaf.

(madness) #60

yeah but if it happens every 2 seconds like it seems from the video, it’s just annoying
