This doesn’t sound so great! It’s differing way too much from vanilla ET. The original ETPro was good because it fixed bugs and improved competition… now it’s sucky. I mean what’s with the Garand fix? Why not just improve Garand damage? Why do the guns need to be exactly the same on each side? Isn’t that boring? Why the hell do you need hitsounds… I mean, yes, ET is based on the Q3 engine, but if I want to play Q3 I’ll play Q3!! What’s with the Fueldump changes? I understand how Battery is an Axis slaughter-fest, but this is getting ridiculous. Fueldump is a perfectly balanced map for anyone who knows how to play.

Bani I hope you read this. I hope you release a different version of ETPro which just fixes the bugs and improves competition slightly, not alienate ET. Because ETPro used to be fun.

i am just wondering about the server settings… need to experiment with them…
it would be nice if bani made full cvars/setting list next time so admins can prepare for the new versions. :slight_smile:

the map changes are changes directed at competition to avoid full holds. the garand fix just allows the garand to reload mid-clip, iirc.

  • enhanced spectator mode (shoutcaster), can see names over players, mines (and whether these are spotted or not), dynamite countdown.

The spectator being able to see all mines is a dumb idea.
People will just go spec, then go back on team and know where all the mines are and tell team.

Mines are only viewable in shoutcaster mode, which is intended for third parties broadcasting a match. It requires a password login to access. Normal spectator mode is same as always.

The Garand has a 60% faster reload speed as well, but I’m assuming they “corrected” that too, as well as adding 2 bullets.

If you can’t play Fueldump good on the Allies then you’re just not good. Of course, in clanwars the 20 minute timelimit is much harder. I’ll admit that I had public servers (competitive pubs) in mind while I made that statement, though.

BTW I realize that I overreacted earlier, I’m just trying to say that you’re putting too much chocolate on my vanilla ET. :slight_smile:

and of course we added shoutcast spectator mode without password and deliberately made it so players can use it to see all mines and cheat! :banana:

and there’s no way we could have balanced garand and k43 because sd admitted they overlooked that, and it was their intention for them to be balanced. no, we just went out of our way to mess them up. :beer:

and of course we enforce changed fueldump and battery on players who dont want it. we obviously never consulted with leagues before making these changes. :chef:

yes we are stupid and didn’t think any of these features out, we are just out to destroy ET :clap: :clap: :clap:

to be honest, i’ve really liked the garand a lot more over the past 2 months. the quick reload is a godsend when you’re fighting in extended battles. Goldrush is full of those.

I think a compromise (could be for both rifles to be modded) is if you reload midclip, the reload is the long 3.5 second reload. but if you reload when you’re empty, you do the quicker 2 second reload. And I think 8 rounds per clip is a good amount.

i dunno though, maybe that’s a bit tricky to program. but I can hope!
