New ET CTF Server

(ND80) #1

Using Shrub’s ctf features we have created a new ET Capture the Flag server at 66.98.130.98:27961:

[ND80]Slick’s CTF

SiliconSlick developed this server by using the shrub mod and creating the various flag centers and spawn points. Each map (original 6) either has one or two flag centers for each side and multiple spawn locations. Each map will run for either 20 minutes or 10 flag captures by one side.

To join the server you will need to d/l a 2.8 mb pk3 file so you need to have ‘allow downloads’ enabled in your ET options. The download from the server is a redirect to my web page and takes only a few seconds. In lieu of the auto download, you can get the pk3 file from:

http://www.nd80usa.net/slicks/slicksctf/slicksctf-beta1.pk3 (right-click, save)

That will need to go in a folder called “slicksctf” under your
ET install directory (next to “shrubet” and “etmain”).
You’ll be better off by allowing downloads (almost a necessity
on ND80 servers anyways given Slick’s propensity to make new
“mods”).

This is just an attempt to give players a different type of game for their ET pleasure and any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

For some reason for me (under Win98), the client will
crash after the download is complete. Usually, however,
you can reconnect without fail (the download does succed
in most cases unless there was a map change).

It’s referencing pk3’s that are quite excellently 404-compliant:

ERROR: Download failure while getting ‘http://www.nd80usa.net/slicks//etmain/singlemap2to10.pk3

if you’re wondering why nobody is on the server, that might be a reason.

Oops! Forgot about those (they are downloaded automatically
if you visit any of ND80’s other servers).

I think it is fixed now.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I dont think so, it just crashed my client.

I’ve found that using the web download (which it is… a first for us),
the clients crash after the download completes. However, if you
reconnect you can usually get on.

I did a fresh install of ET yesterday and was able to get on, but
like I say, it did take 2 connection attempts (first to download [which
crashed], second to play).

Thanks, I’ll give it another try.
