is this the only issue you are having with your computer? and is there anything on your computer you want to keep?

cause i am to a point of suggesting that a complete wipe and reload might be in order to find where the problem is coming in at.

start the rebuild with vga card only in and then load the game, try running it, and then add drivers and cards one at a time, starting the game after each one, and see where it crashes.

other than that i am thinking there has to be a hardware issue starting up somewhere, but i can’t really say where it might be…

do you have an extra hard drive that you could try this with, then you wouldn’t loose your info on you original drive, and you would have a place to start in resolving it on the original drive.

btw, have you checked for viruses and spyware?

thx for all your help…

I have finally solved my prob… alittle history first is in order (BRB getting a dew :drink: )

AHHHHH mountainy fresh  Back in dec 02 I decided it was time to upgrade my aging leadtek gforce 4600   so in a drunken stuper :drink: I decided the latest and greatest video card with be the only card for me. After scoring the web site’s for the best possible deal I came across this http://bizrate.lycos.com/marketplace/product_info/details__cat_id--405,prod_id--7579716.html

so I plunked down the 350 U.S. and got my card in about 6 days.

I went imediatly (sp?) to intall my fresh card to see all the nifty things it could do. Well truth be told it did NOT work. :disgust: :disgust: In my haste I failed to look up the compatibility of the card with my MoBO http://uk.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-7VRXP(2.0).htm
so after I thrashed my house and got a tongue lashing (NOT the good kind) from my wife I set about to fix this damn card or die trying. After 3 FULL installs and numerous driver install/reinstalls I finally got it to work. Flash foward to 5 days ago. While playing EQ with the misses I had un unexpected NIC failure on my MoBo. No worries I say, I saved the install cd I got from giga I will just reinstall it and everything will be right as rain. WRONG still has not installed and I have to use a pci slot for a second nic. but what it did do is UP the voltage on the southbridge which in turn caused my radeon 9700 pro to crap out on me under high Graphic stress. So there ya go. 5 days of trouble shooting and it all came down to having my bios voltage on my agp rail DOWN from 1.7 to 1.5

oh ps

in order to get my card to work the first time I had to up my voltage on my agp rail from 1.5 to 1.7  ahhh the joys of computers cheers

:drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

i am glad to hear that you got it fixed.

i hate problems like this, you beat on them for hours or days and in the end it is a very simple fix…
