New cam video, very informitive

(tokamak) #21

Well so far all the footage has been shown on PC’s. Huzzah for the PC being the main platform.

(DarkangelUK) #22

As slade said, SD had nothing to do with the xbox/PS3 version of ETQW (which tbh, I knew you were gonna say but just let you prove me correct). Your 1st sentence proves my point… its the consoles they need to prove to, not us. The 3 versions of Brink are being worked on AT THE SAME TIME, a port requires a finished product to be then ported to another platform. You’ve been told this many times, and you refuse to acknowledge it… if you’re not going to pay attention to what you’re being told, then stop blindly posting the same tripe over and over again. You’re butthurt because it said press X instead of press keyboard key. The versions shown off are PC version that have xbox icons on them, do you see the xbox crowd shouting from the hills that they ‘demand’ to see the proper xbox version? The mouse looks around and the keyboard moves the player, what exactly are you going to gather from that knowing fine well they know how to do it already?

iz funneh

they complain because the pc-version would be a port? isn’t brink being built from the ground up on every console?
they complain because the pc-controls will be bad, based on the lack of any proof? perhaps they don’t use the keyboard and mouse anymore because it’s already as finely tuned as it can be?

as has been said before, SD has yet to prove itself to the console gamers…

have some faith in these incredible guys that make up splash damage

(darthmob) #24

If anything I would be worried about performance issues on the two consoles.

(Kinjal) #25

So your point is – If the SD port ETQW to console it’s a great game, if it’s somebody else port - it’s a crap. And PC maps and gameplay doesn’t matter. My point – it’s a hardcore PC game, and u can’t port it to console and make x-box 360 owners happy.

The difference is “told” and “seen” , yes I heard it a lot of times, but I never seen a PC gameplay , so if u right - and “The 3 versions of Brink are being worked on AT THE SAME TIME” why SD don’t just shut me up and the rest of Angry pc users by showing us, stuff we want, its so easy.

You’re butthurt because it said press X instead of press keyboard key. The versions shown off are PC version that have xbox icons on them, do you see the xbox crowd shouting from the hills that they ‘demand’ to see the proper xbox version?

Hm, why x-box users must be angry, all presentations was made for them. And I just don’t see a PC version, I see x-box version that use pc source

The mouse looks around and the keyboard moves the player, what exactly are you going to gather from that knowing fine well they know how to do it already?

I’m Just want to see , how SMART work on PC keyboard. On controller its just a sprint button , but I want to see a hardcore style, not just push shift.

(DarkangelUK) #26

No, you posted reviews of the console version which had nothing to do with SD… mine was a statement of facts… SD have never made a console game yet, so have to prove themselves to the console crowd.

You HAVE seen, cos all footage released so far is PC footage! And what ‘angry PC owners’ are we talking about, the 3 or 4 of you on these forums? I’m a PC player, i’m not angry… there’s lots of PC players on here not angry… cos there’s nothing to get ‘angry’ about.

Hm, why x-box users must be angry, all presentations was made for them. And I just don’t see a PC version, I see x-box version that use pc source

I honestly think you’re taking the piss now, xbox version with PC source? Did you seriously believe Feanors “xbox emulator on PC” statement rofl. You’ve seen the PC version with xbox icons… its not hard to grasp.

I’m Just want to see , how SMART work on PC keyboard. On controller its just a sprint button , but I want to see a hardcore style, not just push shift.

Why would smart work any different on a keyboard than on a controller? A button is a button, press the button to do something. It’s the same, the sprint key doubles as smart… as has been said AGAIN! You’re not paying attention at all, are you…

Erm, we may want PC footage because you can perform better movement / shooting / tracking with kbm than with a controller… just saying. We may not being ultimate fanboi and trust everything which is told to us, it’s a market afterall, they wont say if this or this part isnt good enough.

Dang i’m starting to talk at wallz again, I really need to take my pill now, bye

You know a mouse can track a player better, why would you need video proof? You KNOW you can move better with a mouse and keyboard, why do you need video proof? Do you not think it’s possible for some insane reason? I’m struggling to see why you think this won’t happen? In fact, enlighten me… what could possibly cause the mouse and keyboard to not work as intended? Why would SD make it not work as intended? You need to keep talking to that wall, cos its about the only thing that doesn’t think you’re crazy at this point.

(Kinjal) #29

yes, how can i? I drink vodka every day and my English is to bad, so I give up. Peace.

(Apples) #30

Because I may want to see the smoothness and the gameplay with a KBM maybe?, assuming it’s not a proven fact that the game will be super smooth gameplay wise sure makes me a crazy person… For your standards of course, I’m not sure that being doubtfull makes me a crazy person in real life tho, but well, you have spoken, I may now go back crawling in my cave drawing smileys with my feces.

(tokamak) #31

I do get where he’s coming from. The footage clearly shows this isn’t played on a mouse and keyboard, I’m incredibly curious how it will be as well.

I want to see the game played with the high fidelity PC controls have to offer.

(DarkangelUK) #32

I can see the point in specifically showing off manual SMART movement through a map with m/kb to show the advantages over letting the SMART button handle it all itself, but to demand just general footage on the premise that thinking because a controller was used then it’s not the PC version is just silly.

(Apples) #33

Thats why I never entered in the debate console port blabla stuff, I want footage for the sake of it, gameplay wise, not to see better graphics or fps. When everything is too good I tend to be suspicious  And it saved me monies year after year…

I never said the game was crap, I said that I dont take a speech for granted and that so far the video I have seen, without disapointig me that much, didnt impress me neither.

Meh anyway, bored to get to a fight everytime I post a non 100% positive comment, so lets all say Brink is so awesome that I’m getting wet right now, and everyone will be happy.

(Cankor) #34

It’s not a “Hard core PC game”, SD is striving to make a cross-platform game that plays well on every platform. They obviously made the decision to have XBox controler support on the PC version (I think this is required for a games for windows title, so they pretty much had to of they wanted it to be a Games for Windows title).

As people have said, SD knows how to do Mouse/KB support, probably better than just about any other dev out there in fact. Now, with the fewer buttons and fixed orientation of a controller, it’s a harder puzzle to solve to get it working perfectly. Also, as was pointed out, they have to prove to the console crowd they know what they are doing. For these reasons it makes perfect sense that they would focus on that aspect first and get it perfected, before moving on to the mouse/keyboard controls. I suspect the Mouse/KB controls aren’t even done yet.

At this point I think most of us have enough faith in SD to take them at their word that they are developing the Game for all platforms simultaneoulsy, and that when they do get to the mouse/keyboard support it won’t be a crappy “port” job like we have seen on some other games recently.

I had this in another post, but since we are talking about again, if they let us do bindings like we did in ETQW all will be good. These include:
Context binds.
Being able to bind anything to the mousewheel (see BC2 for an example where you can’t) just like MWheelup and down were regular buttons.

And something new I would dearly love to see:
Context binds for weapons (if I have a pistol in my hand, mouse4 switches to AR, if I have an AR in my hand, mouse4 switches to pistol).

Also: an “equip grenade” button with a corresponding weapon model. I know we should be able to script this, but why not make it an option since it’s dear to so many peoples hearts? let the guys who want to press one button to automatically equip and throw at the same time do that, and the guys who want to run around with it equiped so they can throw with the mouse do that too and give them an on screen indicator that they have a nade in their hand. While we are at it, make it so that if you melee with the nade in your hand, you melee with the knife, cause it just makes sense.

[QUOTE=Cankor;243697]IThey obviously made the decision to have XBox controler support on the PC version

Exactly. Like I’ve seen in other games, when an XBox controller (which you can buy for PC) is plugged in and the user selects XBox control as primary control, then the “hint messages” that pop up are tailored to XBox. That’s why it looks like an XBox game - because it is telling you to press XBox keys when XBox control is designated as the primary interface!

And I highly doubt that they haven’t made the Mouse/KB controls yet. I’d suspect that was one of the first things they tested before moving into unknown territory (controls). I’d also assume that Mouse/Keyboard controls are automatically built into the engine being as it’s a new build from a prior engine.

(brbrbr) #37

moar hatz ?
what you mean ?
we can wear ushanka’s ingame ? or even something from WWI age ?

(Slade05) #38

They`ll include a tinfoil hat just for you!

(DouglasDanger) #39

Could we talk about the new cam video, and have the moronic PC vs consoles debate somewhere else?

I like the look of that rifle Paul customized. Sort of mix of the g3 (sights), an AK, a m14 and a m4.

My thoughts exactly.
