Changing the spread from weighted to a cone of fire system reduced the Day of Defeat community to half its original size before it was changed back. I’m sure it’ll work a lot better in Brink.

No, all the people that want their fkn bullets to go where they aim are mad. The gun play is utter crap. I don’t care how much damage the guns do… I do not want or need random variables in a fps… I should be rewarded for aiming. It should be so reliable that I know they die before the latency catches up because the guns are that reliable and predictable.
I don’t mind spread… or recoil but it needs to be constant or at least allow us to have control over bursting. If I aim at the center of the head I should hit the head… no question. Good now that we agree do something about it. I shouldn’t have to aim upper body because your game can’t get it right.

Disappointing, was nothing added?
This man speaks the truth, DOD had centre weighted COF, then DOD:S introduced even spread in 2005 and after 1,000,000’s of forum inches on the subject they went back to centre weighted in 2008.
If you thought the game was skill-less and random before, you ain’t seen nothing yet, well done SD
Oh well, glad I stopped playing Brink now
You suggest that we make the bunch of idiots smarter, isn’t that just as annoying for the originally smart person?
Analogies suck, the carb-9 was nerfed because it was too overpowered and moving all other weapon damage up would definitely have been too risky.
The carb-9 is still good, it just has a more viable weakness.
Valve don’t, devs can update their games when they feel like they need to.
"Once patches for a user’s installed software have been uploaded to Steam, they are applied the next time the user logs in or launches a game."
And yet, VALVe is approving pathes before uploading them to STEAM.
Do you really think that they allow devs to upload anything like that? So if a dev upload a massive virus, it’s a total ass-rape for VALVe. So no, it’s ain’t validated automatically.
BTW new (?) stopwatch rules are a joke.
If both team don’t complete the first objective, then XP makes the difference. But if you get killed more, you use more buff, and you get more XP. So the team with the lower skill will win, EPIC VICTORY!
Any news about killing off the hacks?
Brink has been unplayable the last week or so because of these people.
I’m not going to link to the hack directly but this is part of it:

And last but not least, there are still some invisibles guys (it was a bot this time…)

adjusting spawn times to 20 offense 30 defense will offset any full holds.

By viable weakness you mean random and by random you mean unreliable and by unreliable you mean frustrating now take this and apply to all guns and you’ve got Brink. I don’t care if the dmg was 2 per bullet I want my bullets to go where I aim or miss because I didn’t control it correctly. This game has been one of the few times I truly felt scammed. I guess I should stay away from all AAA titles.
Oh well here’s to hoping for an ETLive or something along those lines.
Oh ya… still getting the damn sound glitch.
And SD deliveres
A couple of minor user experience issues for you
- _showScores should be made to work in midtro/outro
- When typing in chat box and entered text exceeds chat box size it should scroll to show what you’re typing

idd
but anyways, this game has so many problems… weapon balance should have been the last one to worry about
this is going to be like endrant’s wolfenstein. the game was clearly a beta and they were thinking to find the right color for server browser…
its not a bot even if it says it is!!!
look here http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28907
i wonder if they test before they release (obviously not… its a lotto everytime)
Are you guys SERIOUS? SD, did you really just implement a HUGE patch and leave out being able to change spawn times? Is it really that hard to change the spawn times? Congrats… you just put the nail in the coffin for this game.
There’s no reason to make guns more inaccurate. Like everyone else said it just sucks, SD, and you should know that. Maybe if enough of us say it over and over you’ll realize you were wrong and fix it once and for all.

It’s crazy how you get guns like the carb-9 which are “too overpowered” and then guns that are so underpowered after so many years of development. Maybe you all should have stuck to 1 ~ 3 guns and actually balanced them instead, since obviously balancing this many resulted in every gun suffering somehow or being “too good.” Shouldn’t all the guns have packed quite a punch and been insanely accurate?
Oh well, at least TF2’s Uber Update comes out in a while and even if the new weapons turn out to be imbalanced, at least I have decent FPS, a demo recorder, 1st person spectator, and everything a PC game should have. Oh, and there’s even a cvar for making the spread the exact same for every shot. I can think of a game that needs all of that stuff, can anyone else?
Wow, this patch looks pretty good…
Lets me get my time machine to go back to when it was relevant to keeping this game alive.
Still nothing for comp :<
Think I’ll wait for the dlc, play the new maps then uninstall a week later…

I’m all for balanced weapons, but at least make them enjoyable to use.
