New Brink Parkour vid - Not "Le parkour"

(dommafia) #1

I really like how he went out of his way to find interesting routes/spots that can be used to “ambush” the other team. My new favorite:
Brink - Tricks and jumps - Parkour http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srVENi_jZv0&hd=1

The one that inspired that one:
Le Parkour - http://youtu.be/h0q14FZmfIo

I watched this last week on Bethesda…there are some secret routes! And they work too!

(Sinner) #3

Awesome. That’s all I have to say.

(yoomazir) #4

Crazy video man, good job.

(tokamak) #5

Lights really do get all the fun.

But yeah that’s creative stuff, would be even more impressive if all that was intended.

(Sabayon) #6

Good video. I wish mediums could jump like that :stuck_out_tongue:

(SphereCow) #7

Still baffles me that people say the maps were not designed for trick jumping.

(Deadwalking) #8

That is a nice vid!

Pointed out several routes I had not noticed yet. Also explains a little on how the other team has been inside my spawn zone.

Funny how pressing a single key is now considered “trick jumping”. rofl

In their defense a trick jump by definition is not a straight forward route. There can definitely be more suited maps to take advantage of the movement. That’s not to take away anything from these maps though.

I’d be happy with just strafe jumping with parkour options. Also the jump @ 2:02 is pretty damn nice.

Thks Dom for the link

And yes, more strafe-jump-like control would have felt so much better.
Is all of the strafe-jump, ramp-jump, etc… gone in brink, btw? I keep seeing accelerating jumps, but I’ve yet to understand the rationale behind them

I notice it most when I cancel mid animation when climbing. I’ll have to mess with it a bit more.

I view this video more as an eye-opener vid rather than a trick vid. It shows people the true potential of SMART rather than showing them what’s possible with some practice. I don’t see anything here that a normal player couldn’t do, where as a trick video in the older sense was comprised of jumps that took time, dedication and skill to achieve. It’s a nice video none the less, and definitely will show people some routes and methods they didn’t know existed.

(Cujojr) #14

Good vid, anybody else notice at 6:49 the demolition man reference? Pure Awesome.

(farnsworth) #15

I asked myself the same question. Only kind of similar thing to ramp-jumps I could manage so far is Jumping down stairs and slide in the right moment to get a little more speed and slide a bit further. But strafe-jumping is completely impossible in Brink afaik.

(DarkangelUK) #16

The only slight timed gain I’ve found is wall-hop off a wall up a slope, and hit crouch near the peak and you get an extra boost. I’ve only found it slightly useful in one spot, and even then it was pointless in an actual game scenario.

(Jak Swift) #17

Just when i couldent find any more spots, The one above the upper flank passage in container city is brilliant, thanks man. 2:19 to be precise.

(Conq) #18

Fun video, I even liked the music. Gotta add some of those to my running mix.

(SphereCow) #19

Trick jumping in Quake largely involved pressing a single key. : /

Obs required you to be moving at 0 ups/pressing no keys.

Rocket jumping was an entirely different story, too.
