What netsettings would you guys recommend to get best performance from an ISDN Connection.
To increase bullets registering and doing damage instead of the occasional shooting at a person and no damage is being made… (no comments about aim coz i can aim perfect :> )

Stuff like the Rate, snaps, maxpackets, timenudge etc, what would you recommend
at the moment i use :
Rate 10000
Snaps 30
cl_maxpackets 100
cl_timenudge “-50”

i get a 100 ping on most servers, same for all games
just fustrating on ET and would appreiate some help sorting that if u can :>

If antilag is on (which it is on the majority of ET servers) I would suggest leaving your timenudge at 0

You probably want lower maxpackets, as it may well saturate your upload at 100.

I tended to use

\rate 7000
\cl_maxpackets 38
\snaps 20
\cl_timenudge -20

But that was on ISDN. Now I have 1 meg ADSL :slight_smile:

are my current settings

and it all works fine… (nothing changed cept for clicking connection type in setup screen)

If it’s 64k ISDN then 10000 is too high for your rate, 8000 is about the limit, 7000 to be on the safe side. The default of 5000 is way too low.

If you are using 128k ISDN then you can bump the rate up. I guess you could go up to 14 or 16 000 but most servers will limit you to between 10 and 13 000.

A ping of 100 seems high. I get as low as mid 30’s to UK servers through ASE. (about 50 in game).

it really depends where you are, I actually get by far my best isdn connection with freeserve, 4/5 hops to the gsp i play on most, at least 8 for every other isp i’ve tried. other people havent found it too great though - and sometimes i get reccomended isp’s that are really poor for me. you can “shop around” by trying out isp’s with the metered package and seeing whats best; you can generally expect about the same from their unmetered package.

^ presumes youre in UK, or somewhere with similar ISP charging setup :slight_smile:

btw i used the same net cfg as Colic, except snaps is 40.
