Need some invites for friends...5-10...Please read DEVS...

As another US player I feel your pain when it comes to getting in games, but what I’ve found is that you just have to work a little harder at it, it’s as simple as that. I’ve learned to check the relevant threads, add myself to the lists, figure out what time that’s gonna be over here and make myself available if at all possible. And yes, I play on the EU servers with an average 150 ping, and I just deal with it. Since making some extra effort I’ve gotten into several good games already and am sure I’ll get into more. Sure I can’t get in a lot of the weekday games, but the EU folks play on weekends too plus there are dev Fridays and such, so there are still opportunities to play decent games. You just gotta make a little extra effort.
I have a wife and work 2 jobs btw, so I don’t wanna hear any excuses about not having time, etc, etc, etc.
That being said, you could also organize some games amongst US players on the US servers. I’d be game(pun intended).

On the subject of free invites to friends and such, I’m not sure I like that idea regardless of what they can bring to the table for many of the reasons already mentioned by the others. We threw in cash because we believe in something. If your friends believe in it too, they can also throw in. I’d much rather have fewer games with a smaller group of people who have proven themselves passionate about it than a huge group of people who haven’t. just my 2 cents.

Because they want to make a competitive/casual experience and right now they are getting 0 competitive feedback because we can’t test this game 2v2.

I play on 400 ping on EU servers (from Australia) and regulary outduel level 39 EU Players on 10-40 ping. The game plays amazingly well on high ping

Just put up with it till beta I suppose?

We very much want to grow the alpha and beta but only once we’re happy that the quality of the game is right for the number of extra people we’ll add. Not everybody out there really understands what an alpha or beta is, if we were to invite 5000 new players with the game in its current un-optimized and buggy state, with many features still not added, we’d have a lot of unhappy players on our hands and that would damage the wider perception of the game.

I know this isn’t great for you folks right now but in the long run it will be for the best. As soon as we feel the game has reached that next level in quality we’ll add the next round of players.

I agree with Strychzilla that we’re not really getting what we need in terms of competitive play testing right now due to the lack of clans. A small pool of teams doesn’t push the boundaries of team play and tactics due to a lack of variety and opponents, so there is stuff we’re definitely missing. We are working on a plan to address that as well though, hopefully fairly soon.

Why not pit the in-house testers against the outside alpha testers. I would line up for a chance to register the SD folks a beating!

that already happens, every friday when they finish work they come on and play,

Yeah, sadly I don’t get home from work until 6:30 PM PDT (something like 2:30 AM London time). Now on the weekend, however, I could deliver them!

There will be a couple more Alpha players after the ETQW GG tournament
